Chapter 3 

Everest's POV

        The rest of the day went by quickly. Ethan said he wanted to come over tonight, and watch movies like we normally do on Friday nights. I told him to come over whenever, because I loved spending time with him.

         Hannah drove me home. I opened the front door only to be greeted by silence. Everyday, I come home to an empty house. I went to the kitchen to grab some chips ahoy cookies. I sat down on the couch with my cookies when my cell phone rang. 

        "Hey Ev." It was Ethan.

        "What's up," I asked with my mouth full. 

        "I was wondering if it would be okay if we rescheduled. Lauren wants me to go over to her place tonight." That bitch knows we have movie night on Fridays. 

        "Why can't you just go over after the movie?" I wasn't giving up that easily.

        I could hear him sigh through the phone. "I'll tell her. Besides, she's on her period, so I'm sure she just wants to cuddle and eat ice cream together." When I'm on my period I don't get to cuddle with Ethan. He buys me ice cream sometimes and we'll eat it together, but no cuddling. Lucky bitch.

         I really need to think nicer things about Lauren.

        "So, you'll come here first, right?" 

        "I'll be there, I just need to see Lauren real quick."

        "Okay, bye," I said. Then he hung up.

        About an hour later, the door bell rang. I opened it to see Ethan. I didn't need to greet him or anything, so I just stepped aside and let him through. I closed the door, and walked into the living room where Ethan is already placing the movie in the blu-ray dvd player.

        "What are we watching?" He looked at me and smiled.

        "Friends with Benefits," he said as he joined me on the couch. Except, this time, he sat right next to me. Thigh to thigh. He was really close. He smelt good, and I could feel his body heat radiating off of him. 

        "N-nice choice." I wanted to smack myself for stuttering. Ethan gave me a quizzical look, but brushed it off. He leaned back and relaxed against to couch. I followed his action, and sat shoulder to shoulder. 

        We watched the movie without saying a word, when Ethan abruptly stood up and paused the movie. I looked up at him, confused.

        "I was thinking of breaking up with Lauren." I was not expecting that.

        "Why?" He sat back down on the couch. Thigh to thigh, again.

        "I like someone else." I couldn't help, but get the hopeful feeling in my stomach. I immediately shook the feeling away.

        "Who?" I asked looking at him, but he was looking away. 

        "I'm not telling you," he said with humor evident in his voice. I rolled my eyes, trying to act normal about this. 

        "You have to, I'm your best friend. Also, this chick better be special." He smiled still looking at my eyes.

        "And why is that, Ev," he questioned. I just shrugged and looked away. 

        "What would you do if I kissed you," he asked. I quickly turned so I could see his face, and tell if he was kidding or not. He looked serious.
