I felt extremely nervous as the car drove into the school gate, the driver stopped in front of the gate collecting a tally from the security. The security looked into the car and a warm smile crossed his face as he saw me.
"New student bah" he asked
I nodded and said a yes I was sure he wouldn't have heard even if he was an inch away. I lose my voice any time I get nervous.
The security seemed to understand and he smiled in return.
"Welcome to EXCELLERS UNIVERSITY" he said.
"Thank you" my father did the replying as the driver drove into the school.
My eyes were fixed at the car window as I caught glimpses of my new school,my dream school. This place, I'll spend the next five years of my life. I stared at different lecture theaters,I breathed deeply continuously, there was no doubts that this school is the most beautiful in the country.
We drove for the next 10 minutes before we got to a giant and beautiful administrative building. Excellers University as retained it's position of the best University in Nigeria, despite it being a private university in one of the most quiet and unpopular states in the country, Ondo state. I had dreamt of studying in this school since I could understand what a university is. And being able to study my dream course in my dream school made me over the moon, since a month ago when I got my admission letter. But here I was extremely nervous as I stood in front of the building with my also excited dad who was probably thanking the almighty in his heart as his last child was now in the university.
"Shall we?" My father asked as he held my hands pulling me with him. For once I didn't force it, I allowed his over protective nature just flow without me complaining. I felt nervous as eyes were staring at me,other students were registering too,and I was sure they were stressed,I felt slightly bad because my dad would be helping me with mine.
I stared at him as we walked to his friend's office, to start my registration, more than two people came running towards us as they saw my dad. One thing I disliked whenever I was with my Dad.
Pastor Adewale, my dad, was the lead pastor of the Ondo state branch of The Savior's Church, a well known church were the word was grounded, it was that Pentecostal church that nurtured young believers into unshakable spreaders of the gospel. I was not new to the attention I derived from this but I really resented it and I always try to crawl away from situations like that.
As we got closer to his friend's office, a figure walked past me that had a familiar aura with it, I turned to my side but the person had walked away.
Many hours passed and I was able to finish my registration, I wouldn't be staying at the hostel, because my parents always wanted me with them, same with my older siblings. They were that protective.
My dad said he wanted to check up on a member who was a professor in the faculty of social sciences. So we decided to walk there so I could feel the atmosphere of my new school, lol, well that was the excuse I gave my dad so as to follow him.
We stepped into the building as my Dad told me to wait at the reception, I sat down and pulled out my phone from the trousers I wore. I switched on my data, as a notification popped on the screen of my phone, my favorite Christian YouTuber just dropped a video. I giggled as I managed to conceal my happiness so I wouldn't seem creepy with the students around staring at me.
My phone rang and the caller ID displayed Toni❤️
"Mummy G.O ma" the voice on the other end said giggling.
"You are blessed ma" I replied giggling also.
" Peleee, how is school going, omo university" she said.
" Orrh, I'm done with my registration"
"That's good oo" she paused " I just came back from lesson" she said in a low tone.
" Huh, really?" I muttered "Dr. Toni in the making I hail in advance" I said with a giggle that lightened the mood.. I heard her laughing hard at the other end.
Again I felt the same aura I had felt while walking at the administrative building, and I heard a familiar voice my phone still glued to my Ear.
"Wait, Jemima??" The voice called with a strain of excitement in it.
I looked up as my eyeballs nearly popped out.
"You!!!" I said surprised

"Hello...hello, Jemima. Are you there" Toni called out from the phone.
" Yeah" I muttered, before she could reply I added " You know what? Let's talk later"

" Look who we have here"
