Goku's p.o.v.

The air had a muggy warm temperature despite the sun setting. Shadows began stretching across the landscapes. Goku's dusted bandages that covered his midsection were barely hanging on him, exposing his midriff. The wind from flying led to them whipping against the purple bruises on his skin. His orange gi pants still had smeared blood on them and were torn at the knees.
Frieza and Goku were flying back to his home in a tense silence. The saiyan would've offered to use instant transmission, but was too exhausted from the entire day and wanted to rest. He was flying in front of the ice jin as usual to navigate their way back to the house. Which hopefully they'd arrive soon. Even the saiyan would admit he needed to clean up. He was beginning to grow tired of the way his bangs stuck to his forehead. Not to mention, all the blood and dirt that dried onto his arms and hands.
As they flew, Goku couldn't help but notice Frieza staring intensively at him which made him shift uncomfortably in the air. I hope he isn't mad at me, he thought innocently with a saddened expression. The piercing stare made him feel worse about what happened. The one chance he had to prove how important the ice jin was to him, and he carelessly ruined it during a battle. The guilt over the ring made it difficult to breathe. The saiyan instinctively frowned. There has to be some way I can fix it, he thought with hope. Goku wasn't exactly a genius, but he tried his best to brainstorm what to do. Although, all the options he could think of, were too expensive. As he began coming up with ideas, he carefully maneuvered his hand into his left gi pocket to make sure the remains of the ring were safe. He lightly graced the punctured jewelry with his blistered fingers. The cold metal gave him a sense of security and the hero let out a sigh of relief. This time I won't lose it, he thought with a serious determination. Goku glanced over his shoulder to see that Frieza was still watching him closely. His face had his signature scowl, but he did look genuinely concerned for the saiyan. Goku slowed down to match the ice jin's speed of flight, still being watched by him.
Even though he felt fatigued, he gave the tyrant a grin. Once their shoulders barely touched, he wanted to start a conversation and asked, "So, what do you think Chichi is making for dinner?" Frieza scoffed as he wittily responded, "You won't eat anything until you take a shower." Frieza side eyed him harshly as he went on, "I refuse to sit next to a smelly ape." Goku gasped at this, but wasn't actually offended. "Hey, cmon I don't smell THAT bad." Frieza rolled his eyes and chuckled lightly. The saiyan couldn't help but smile back as he also snickered. Bantering with the ice jin always lightened the mood between them. Even with the serious day they had. Frieza was smirking and the hero let his tensed shoulders relax. There was another silence, but it was more comfortable this time and had a pleasant atmosphere.
It was like this for a minute or two, and the hero still had a dopey smile on his face. Goku opened his mouth to speak, but Frieza spoke before him in a pondered tone, "Um, Goku..." the saiyan hummed in response, "hm? What's up?" He watched the tyrant's face change from a small grin to a solemn expression. He continued, "What were you doing all day? I mean, how did you get all scratched up and such." Goku's eyes widened, he wasn't expecting to get that question.
He gulped to try and ease his dried throat. The saiyan was sick of all this 'tip toeing' around the ice jin. He had a strong urge to just yell out everything that bothered him. But, he didn't want him to know about the ring just yet. Goku looked sincerely into the deep red eyes and replied, "To tell you the truth," his knuckles clenched tightly as he gathered his confidence. Frieza almost leaned in, he desired this answer for a long time. "I lost something very important to me." The saiyan tried to not let his voice crack while he spoke. Frieza looked unsatisfied with that answer, and asked bluntly, "Well what is it?" Goku bit his bottom lip as he looked away nervously. He was nearly whining as he frustratingly shook his head, "Gah! I can't tell you." Frieza became annoyed as he ridiculed, "Surely you don't expect me to take that as an answer?" The pit in the saiyan's stomach deepened. He wasn't the best at keeping secrets. He looked back at the tyrant, and with an earnest voice he said, "I just can't tell you now... but maybe soon I will." The last part of his sentence dragged on with uncertainty. Frieza then turned his attention towards flying as he grumbled aloud quietly, "Tch, damn saiyans."
Goku pouted at this, and was about to say more, but in the close distance he saw the house. Frieza must have seen it too, because when he spotted it he flew at a quicker speed and surpassed the hero by a few meters. "Wh- hey wait up." Shortly after speaking, the hero followed the tyrant. They both swiftly landed on the soft grass in front of the small residence, with Frieza being a few feet in front now.
Did I make even more angry? Goku thought anxiously. They both remained quiet and still for a moment. He knew fully well not to disturb Frieza when he's irritated. The tyrant walked towards the door and rested his hand on the door knob. Before turning it he stopped for a moment. Without facing the saiyan he said, "If you want, I can help you with your wounds after you shower and eat dinner." The tyrant made an emphasis on the word 'shower'. Those words helped the weight on Goku's shoulders lighten. If Frieza was willing to help with his wounds he couldn't possibly be fuming at him, right? The hero was about to thank him, but before he could speak, the door flew open and slammed against the wall abruptly. Both of them were surprised and saw the enraged Chichi with Gohan in the background. The kid looked nervous from the fury of his mother. Her face was red from anger as she screamed, "GOKU!!!!!" She walked around the ice jin as if he weren't there at the doorway, earning a sneer from him. Aww man I forgot about her, Goku thought with dread. She stomped her way to the saiyan and yelled at him, "What do you think you're doing, disappearing without telling your family where you'd be!!" Goku hesitated and took a step back, but his wife just got closer and shouted much louder than before. "WHAT KIND OF A FATHER WOULD DO THAT!! DO YOU KNOW HOW WORRIED GOHAN AND I WERE?!" The saiyan couldn't get a word in as she lectured too fast for him to understand her. He looked past her head at the ice jin. He had an unreadable expression and watched with disinterested narrowed eyes. As Chichi was still yelling, the hero mouthed the words 'help me'. But the ice jin just shrugged as if to say 'she's your wife'. Frieza instead went inside and closed the door silently behind him, still hearing the shouts of chichi.
