Chapter 9: Anger

I woke up a few hours later, I saw Lucifer was still sleeping in our bed. Looks like the drugs haven't worn off just yet. Maybe if I'm really quiet, he won't hear me. I slowly got out of bed and went to the door. The vampire boys might still be asleep, so it might be safe. I went down the halls once again only to see Satan sitting on one of the couches. "Why are you up?" Asked Satan, "It may become dangerous if one of the vampires wake up."

"I couldn't sleep. What are you doing?" I asked.

"I'm reading a book." He said, "Asmo moans in his sleep so it's kind of hard to read it in our room."

"Oh, I see." I said.

I got a closer look and saw it was about cats. That's like him. I sat next to him and I said, "Mind if I sit here?"

"Sure, just stay close, okay?" Said Satan.

[Time skip]

Soon, Satan was fast asleep. The book must have really tired him. I got off the couch and proceeded to walk through the house. Yet, I was rethinking my decision when I saw Subaru standing by a window. I tried to get away, but froze when he said, "Hey, get back here."

Geez, this guy has a lot of sass. "What is it?" I asked, with a hint of disinterest.

"You and your demon guys will die if you all stay here." He said.

I remained silent. I don't want to say anything that will make him more mad than he already seems to be. If anything, he could get angrier than Satan! And he's the avatar of wrath! "Get over here." Said Subaru.

Being cautious, I walked towards him. "What do you want?" I asked.

"Here." He said.

He handed me a silver knife. I observed the shining blade and said, "Why are you giving me this?"

"It can kill a vampire in an instant. So if you feel threatened, use it." He said.

Out of all the vampire brothers, I did not expect this one to give me something to defend myself. I'm not the best with weapons, so I hope I won't mess up. Well, now I can repay the demon brothers for protecting me. But is now really the time to start? "Why do you have this knife in the first place if it can have the potential to kill your brothers?" I asked.

Subaru refused to answer. Geez, this guy is so stubborn. I just hope the knife doesn't have the potential to kill demons. "Lucifer will get mad if he sees that my other brothers drank your blood." He said, "It revolts me."

"Why do you care so much? Or...do you even care?" I asked.

He paused, then clicked his tongue. I turned to walk away, but Subaru grabbed me from behind. "!!!"

Wait, is he hugging me from behind? "Subaru...?" I said.

But he got off me then bit into my neck! You'd think I'd get a break, but no! "Let me go...!" I gasped.

"So sweet..." He said, continuing to drink.

I closed my eyes and I felt strength leaving me. I have to get this guy off me! Wait, I can use the knife! That was until I heard a thud, making Subaru let go of me. I opened my eyes and saw a book...about cats. I looked up and saw a pissed off Satan in view. "Satan!" I gasped.

"If you hadn't left my side, that wouldn't have happened!" Said Satan angrily.

"You demon!" Shouted Subaru.

Looks like wrath is hitting for both of them! It looks like they're about to kill each other! Should I do something? I mean...I could have died that time I refused to make a pact with Satan, but I thought his wrath would have eased a little bit by now! Well, he is the avatar of wrath so I don't blame him. "Guys, stop it!" I said angrily.

"You're the one who started this Mc!" Said Satan, "If you had just stayed away from this freak, that wouldn't have happened!"

I gotta stop this! Wait...! Why didn't I think of this before?! I made pacts with all the brothers except for Lucifer! I could have just summoned them to save me! Even if I don't have much magic experience, it was still worth a shot! I held out my arm and said, "Satan, stop it right now!"

Just then, Satan froze up. "W-what?!" He said, "R-right, I made a pact with you!"

"What kind of human are you?" Asked Subaru.

"A human who made pacts with six demons!" I said, "If I had realized how my magic works, I could have summoned them to help me. So now, if you, or any of your brothers try to drink my blood, I won't hesitate to take drastic measures!"

"Tch, get lost." Scoffed Subaru.

I released Satan, and he took me by the arm to the living room. He took out a napkin from his pants pocket and put it on the bite marks. "You've been way too careless about these guys." Said Satan, "Lucifer will get really mad if he sees that the other brothers bit you."

"How did you know?!" I asked, shocked.

"I noticed before I fell asleep. Your neck looked a little roughed up." He said.

I buried my face my hands saying, "I've been too foolish." I said, "I don't deserve any of you guy's help."

"Well, at least you stopped me before things got out of hand." He said.

"If only I had remembered I made pacts with almost all of you. Although since I don't have much magic, I wouldn't know what all to do." I said.

"Well use this as the time to reflect on your actions and use as a reference in the future. You always gain knowledge from your mistakes, Mc."

I felt a little better hearing Satan say that. "I should probably get this covered before Lucifer wakes up." I said.

"Good thinking." Said Satan, "Be careful on the way back. (Though it'd be nice if he slept a lot longer...)"

I nodded. "I now have more knowledge on how to handle this!"

Satan smiled and I went back to my room. Now I have that silver knife to defend myself. I walked into my room, but Lucifer's still asleep? I put the knife into a dresser and applied more concealer. When we get back to the Devildom, I gotta up my magic game!
