Chapter 16

Eleanor's POV

My eyes fluttered open,adjusting to the bright light, darting around what looks like a consulting room?
I am lying on a small bed. Blinking a couple of times, I finally realized where I am.

What am I doing at a clinic?

"Good day Mrs James." The doctor strolled in with Andrea,and I'm shocked to see her.

"Andi?" I gaped with large eyes, sitting up straight.

"El! Thank God you're okay." She smiled, coming over to hug me. And I returned the embrace.

Looking at her confused, I asked. "What am I doing here?"

"Mrs James,the young lady over her said that you fainted. She found you lying on the kitchen floor by your house."

I raised my brows,having no memory of this at all.

"And who are you?" I questioned the docter.

"I am Dr Oleff."

"Doctor." Andrea began,eyes clouding with concern. "She looks rather pale." Her voice sounds as if it lost its edge.

"Eleanor,are you alright? Any pain?" The docter questioned, looking down on his clipboard.

"I feel a little dizzy. It's been like that for the past few days. There's a slight cramp in my lower belly. "

Without taking his eyes from his clipboard,he writes something down, then spoke. "Well...I ran blood tests on you just to check if everything is okay and I do have good news for you."

"I'm listening."

"It's perfectly normal that you've been experiencing the cramps becau-"

"What?" I cut him out.

"Mrs James this is part of the side effects."

"What side effects? What are you talking about?" I looked at him with curiosity.

There's a long pause before the docter speaks.
"You're four weeks pregnant. Congratulations Mrs James."

Theres a short silence for a moment that fills the air and it lingered.
I am so stunned...so temporarily unable to react normally.
My heart is beating fast inside my chest.

Pregnant?

But...how?
How on earth can it be?

"That's impossible." I trailed off. "I'm on the birth control shot,Dr Oleff."

"Yeah I was just about to say that too..." Andrea's words trailed off, and I noticed her shocked expression.

"The chance of getting pregnant increases if a woman waits longer than three months to get her next shot... which is what you did." The doctor  clarified. "Basically you used the injection shot incorrectly."

"How could I be so stupid? I thought I was still on the shot?"

"Not to worry Mrs James. These things happen alot with women. You're not the only one." Dr Oleff assured.

"He's right Eleanor." Andrea agreed. "But this is good news to you. You're suppose to fall pregnant, right?" She smiled, taking a seat by the edge of the bed.

"But it just happened so quickly."

I still couldn't get over the fact that I'm carrying a new life.

Theo's baby.

Doctor clears his throat. "Alright. So consuming the right nutrients is important during pregnancy. I will prescribe vitamins for both you and your baby so that you'll be getting enough."
