A drop of sweat fell off of Y/n's forehead as she swung a wooden stick around. She paused and held herself up on her knees, panting heavily.
"Y/n you've got to give it a rest, you've been doing that all day." Cecil laughed. He was sitting in the sand next to Naomi building a sandcastle. He flung some sand at Naomi and she glared deeply into his soul. He made an amusing face and went back to his castle while Naomi shook it off and went back to watching the waves wash up to her legs.
Naomi was incredibly gorgeous and the talk of the village. She had long, thick, blond hair and piercing blue eyes, along with radiant pale skin that brought people's eyes straight to her. She didn't like to have attention on her but with her stunning looks, that was a little difficult.
Almost opposite to Naomi, Cecil had caramel skin that complimented his bright wardrobe. His eyes were a beautiful chocolate brown that warmed their viewers' hearts. His hair was a short style but it was still pretty long, the brown curls covered his eyebrows and nearly his eyes.
"It's only three, there's still a lot more time in the day so I don't see why I should stop." Y/n replied, continuing to swing the stick around like a sword.
"Hey just ta-" Naomi started saying before she was cut off by a horse trotting up to three of them.
The three of them looked over and saw two royal guardsmen sitting upon some fancy looking horses. "Are you three the eldest of your family available?"
Both Cecil and Naomi nodded. Y/n on the other hand didn't, she was a middle child. She had another brother and twin younger sisters.
"What about you, are you the oldest?" One of the guards asked Y/n.
"No, I have an older brother but he's out traveling through Hyrule." Y/n replied. She wasn't lying, her brother was out of town and has been for over a year now.
"Then you're the oldest available, you're coming with us then." The same guard replied. He glanced between the three and sighed, "If your parents allow it."
The three looked between each other with wide eyes.
"Where would we be going?" Cecil asked the guard. By now the three were standing so they weren't so far below the guards.
"Hyrule Castle, I'll explain more when I speak with your parents." The other guard nodded, "Whoever is closest to us now lead us to your house."
Y/n presented that hers was closest, then started walking in the direction of her house. She felt stiff when walking, "What was the royal guard doing in Lurelin village?" She thought.
Once they made it to her house the guards knocked on the door. Y/n's mother came to the door and looked between the guards and her daughter. "Honey you might want to come here for this." Y/n's mother called with concern in her voice. Y/n's father appeared next to her and he looked at the guards.
"What brings the royal guard to my front door?" Y/n's father asked. By now the guards had stepped off their horses to be eye level with the parents.
"Hyrule Castle is kindly asking the citizens of Lurelin village to lend their assistance at the castle. The oldest available children are asked to work as knights and maids in the castle. It is completely up to the parents of the child whether they will go or not. A payment of 50 rupees per month will be given to the child." One of the guards explained.
Y/n's eyes widened at the word knight. This was her chance to finally become a knight and she was going to be paid for it!
Y/n's parent's worriedly looked at Y/n and her mother slowly asked, "Y/n, do you want to go to the castle to work for them?"
