Me, Dylan and Shana were at River Hyde Cafe. We were waiting for Angel. Dylan still didn't know what was about to happen but he was about to find out.
When Angel walked in and Dylan turned around, their eyes met and while they were looking each other, I felt like I could feel their souls and it felt broken. Both of them were still torn up over each other and it was so obvious by the way they just reacted.
Angel then came and she sat down. Dylan looked at me and then he asked "what is this?" I took a deep breath and then I responded with "it's an intervention. So that you and Angel can fix the unsolved problems that are still haunting you both." Dylan nodded his head and then he said "you two planned a whole intervention for me without telling me? You didn't even ask me if I was ready to see Angel, you know how much that break up hurt me and yet you still went ahead and planned this entire thing and you lied to me about it, making all of us drive five hours to Chicago just for this." Angel looked at Dylan and then she replied with "Dyl, I know the I'm last person that you want see, but this breakup is still hurting both of us and we've just been going on about our lives the past seven years like nothing happened. But something did happen and both of us are still completely broken over it, and someone had to set this up for us because we definitely were not going to do it ourselves. So your girlfriend and your best friend took initiative and did something for you because they cared. If anyone ever did that for me, I would be so thankful because I really need this, so I can finally move on with my life and I know you do too." He nodded and then he said "okay, continue." I cleared my throat and then I said "okay so.... Dylan, you've gone on about how Angel broke your heart and how she's the reason why junior year was so terrible for you. Can you elaborate on that please?" Dylan took a deep breath and then he responded with
"it was a Friday afternoon and I was just standing by my locker and then Angel came up to me and she was crying so obviously I asked her what was wrong but she didn't answer. And then she told me that she was breaking up with me and before I could even say anything else, she was gone. And I tried for so many weeks to ask her, what I did, but she never told me and she ignored me on social media and then when senior year came, she was gone." Shana looked up and then she said "thank you, Dylan. Now Angel, when we spoke earlier today, you mentioned that there's more to the story then meets the eye. Can you please elaborate on that and give us your side of the story?" Angel nodded and then she replied with "so, it was Friday morning. Around 10am and I hadn't gone into school yet because I had a free period. And then I got a message on my phone from a friend of mine, so I opened the message and it was a video so I played video and on it was Dylan making out with some girl called Zara, at his beach bash party, sophomore year. And even though it was over a year ago, he still cheated on me and one million things were going through my head at the time but I didn't wanna be with him at that moment and I was just so hurt and confused. So when I saw him, I just had to end it and I needed space but then people started bullying me because he is the brother of Zoe Camshaft and she was the most popular girl in school. So everyone was bullying me for breaking his heart to the point where I had to move for senior year and that's what happened."
Hearing Angel's side of the story made everything sound so different. The only perspective I had heard it from was Dylan, but Angel was right, there really more to the story than meets the eye. I looked at Angel then back at Dylan and I asked "so Dylan, how are you going to respond to that?" He looked at me and then he said "I know this is not an excuse but I was wasted. I have no clue what I was doing or what I was saying, and I woke up the next morning surrounded by beer cups and empty pizza boxes and videos that I had on my phone that I didn't even know that I had on my phone. And when I saw the video of me making out with Zara and I was sober enough to see what I did, I didn't want to tell you because I didn't wanna cause you any necessary pain. I knew that there was a possibility that you could find out eventually, but I was hoping that it wouldn't get out but clearly someone sent it and it ended up coming to you. I'm so sorry, I would never do anything to hurt you on purpose, because you were the first girl I ever loved." Shana looked at me then back at Angel and she asked "Angel, do you have anything you wanna add?" Angel nodded and then she responded with "I accept your apology. Now it's my turn to apologise, I'm sorry for not giving you an explanation and I'm sorry for everything you went through after. Even though I was not happy with what you did, you deserved to know why I broke up with you." Dylan looked at Angel and then he smiled and replied with "apology accepted. Friends?" Angel smiled back at him and then she said "friends." Me and Shana looked at each other and smiled because we knew that our job was done and we couldn't be happier. We all got up and we were getting ready to leave and I turned around for two seconds and when I turned back, Dylan was on one knee and he was holding a ring. I knew exactly what he going to do next but it felt so good to watch him do it. He looked up at me and he said "I've known you for a very long time, but for the past seven years, you have been my rock through everything. The hardest times and the softest times. You have been there, sometimes even more than my own twin sister and that says something. That says that you care about the ones you love and when you love them, you will do anything to protect them at all cost and that's what I love about you. And that's what I want in my life, for the rest of my life. So, Kassandra Penelope Edmund, will you marry me?" I looked at him and then I nodded and I responded with "yes, I will marry you." He then put the ring on my finger and he got up and kissed me.
I couldn't be more happy right now, the man of my dreams is now my fiancé, I'm with my best friend and Dylan and Angel finally solved their issues. Life was going exactly how I pictured it and I wasn't disappointed.
