Harry/3rd person POV
As they walked back to the common room, Harry fell in step with Percy.
"Percy?"
"Yeah."
"Do you think this book is dangerous. Hermione is worried about it, but I don't think it's special in any way, it just has some annotations. Do you know anything about evil stuff? Would you be able to tell if something was wrong?"
"I would not count myself as an expert on any sort of magic stuff, not by any stretch of the imagination. If you can't find any dangerous spells or anything, I don't see how it could go very wrong, although something probably will go wrong, because you're Harry Potter. Encountering unexpected problems is a constant affliction as the chosen one. But today's potion worked just fine, so the other ones are probably normal. Maybe be careful though, and try not mention it in front of Hermione, it's no use worrying her or putting her in a bad mood.
"Thanks Percy. Do you want to use it too? I mean obviously you have water powers, but it might help..."
"Thanks for the offer Harry, but I couldn't read it, even if I was using the instructions. I already to struggle to read, so that handwriting would be like a death sentence."
Harry and Percy burst into laughter, catching the attention of Thalia and Nico, who had been arguing over the optimal length of a throwing knife.
"What're you talking about?" Thalia asked.
"The potions textbook Harry is borrowing has writing in it. The instructions handwritten in his book seem to be the actual method, and the ones in the textbook are faulty. We're discussing the likelihood of it being dangerous."
"May I see the book?" Nico asked.
Harry passed it to him, and he opened it, flicking through page after page. His gaze floating across it.
They walked in silence for a few paces, before Thalia grew impatient.
"Care to tell us what you've discerned with your infinite wisdom, Death Breath."
Nico glared sarcastically at Thalia, but she laughed and grabbed the book from him, before imitating his inspection of the book.
"I would love to say something intelligent sounding, but I can't read a word of this writing," Thalia complained, dramatically throwing the book back to Nico.
"Nico?" Percy asked.
"I can't sense any particular death or evil. It just seems like a regular, run of the mill textbook. I can usually sense if things were written with an intention to kill (I have no idea if this could be a genuine power, but whatever) but I can't see anything worse than a normal potion book in this."
"Perfect," said Harry.
"Don't be lax though, Harry, it could still be dangerous. I'm not infallible, and there are some very talented wizards and witches around. Just watch out."
"So what're you all planning to do tonight?" Hermione asked the group behind her, "I plan to do some homework."
"Surprise!" Ron muttered, earning him a glare from Hermione.
"I've got some homework already," Percy complained, "so I figured I'd sit next to Annabeth and wait for her to help me."
Annabeth sighed theatrically but hugged her boyfriend.
"What about the rest of you?"
"Nico and I are going to go for a walk, we'll do our homework later," Thalia said.
"I'll do some work in the common room, if you guys are going to sit there. I need to stay on top of my homework if I'm going to have a meeting with Dumbledore this week."
Hermione nodded happily and gave the password to the fat lady, before climbing through the portrait hole.
Here's a (short) chapter! Finally! I'm sorry I'm being so slow with updates. I just haven't been able to write this, I keep choosing other things to do, which is very annoying.
I've been wondering if you guys just want to read Harry Potter/ Percy Jackson fanfic, or if you'd like to see any original work. Either way I'm fine, I'd just like to know.
Thank you for reading this story!
