Eyes can lie too

Poem:

Eyes can lie too.

People say that if you look into the eyes of someone who lies,

It can tell a story,

show you how they feel,

what they think,

but that isn't entirely true.

If you look at the eyes of someone who lies,

You can see someone happy when really they are crumbling inside.

If you bothered to look deeper into those eyes,

Maybe you could find the lies, but...

We don't look deeper into people's eyes,

Because we lie...

When people talk to someone, instead of looking into their eyes,

They look at the ground,

Not wanting to make eye contact because they feel ashamed and down,

About the lies they're telling you,

And they don't want you to see the lies in their eyes,

But you're looking down too.

So maybe eyes can't lie, 

But people don't allow eyes to tell the truth,

Because no one really cares, right?

Because if they did they would see the lies in you eyes,

But no one looks for the lies inside of people's eyes,

Because we lie too...
