3rd person POV

Nayeon and San sat down on the couch in the living room, placing the book on the table in front of them.

"Why did Heechul give you this book?" San asked Nayeon, looking at the cover of the somewhat old looking book.

"He said there was a chapter on the Wolf King." Nayeon opened the book to the first few pages. She looked through the chapters listed on one of the pages.

The book ranged from mermaids, unicorns, titans, and aliens but Nayeon found the chapter she was looking for.

She flipped to chapter 13, the Wolf King chapter. As she flipped through the book to find the chapter, she could smell the scent that books give off. Nayeon and San could tell how old and unread the book was.

"Where did Heechul even get this book?" San asked his wife.

"There's no library stamp, it must be from a store or something."

"But it looks so old."

"Don't ask me, ask Heechul." Nayeon said, finally reaching chapter 13.

The first page showed a drawing of a wolf:

Nayeon's finger traced the lines of text as she read the description.

"This mythical creature has existed since Ancient Greece, believed to have lived with multiple Greek Gods." Nayeon said and San listened, reading along.

Nayeon knew where the Wolf King came from, so not all of the information was new. But for San, he couldn't process all of this information. It felt like a day ago that he found out that a werewolf existed, something he thought would never happen.

Nayeon continued to read, "Some forms of the Wolf King have been different over the years. The being has been documented as more werewolf-like, being more human-like in wolf form, being able to stand on 2 legs such as the picture shows on the first page. Other forms were just a normal wolf when transformed, using all 4 of their legs to walk. It is not known which form the original Wolf King had, but it's assumed to have a more human-like form."

"Which one was Jeongyeon?" San asked.

"She had a normal wolf form."

"Looks like Jeongyeon and Ryujin are the same."

"Yeah." Nayeon quickly read the paragraphs, looking for something interesting. "Look!" Nayeon hit San's leg, eyes on the book.

"What?"

Nayeon read, "When someone with the Wolf King's power was discovered as a child, that child would be taken to Greeks gods to help with controlling the power. It is presumed that a sudden change in feeling, such as being startled and threatened, can change the person's form." Nayeon looked at San and San looked at Nayeon.

At the same time they got off the couch and ran towards Ryujin's room where she was sleeping.

San stood in front of the door, blocking Nayeon from entering, "No."

"What? Are you mad that you are gonna lose the bet?"

"No." He scoffed, "I just don't want you to wake her up."

Nayeon rolled her eyes, "Sure. Move." Nayeon pushed San out the way and went inside the room.

She quietly walked towards Ryujin. Not making a sound so she can scare her.

San snuck up behind Nayeon and whispered, "Don't wake her up."

Nayeon jumped, "You scared me, I should scare Ryujin in return." She whispered back.

Nayeon leaned over the wood wall of the cradle, seeing the wolf peacefully sleep.

"Get your 30 dollars ready, I'm winning." Nayeon said before grabbing Ryujin and slightly shaking her. "Boo!"

Ryujin immediately woke up, with the sudden shaking and loud noise. Ryujin turned back into her original form.

"Yes!" Nayeon screamed, jumping up and down. "Where's my 30 dollars?"

"That's not fair! You made her turn back." San crossed his arms.

Before Nayeon could speak she was interrupted by Ryujin crying.

San picked her up and cradled her in his arms, "See what you did? You scared her so much she's crying."

Nayeon looked at Ryujin, cooing at her, "Sowwy Ryujin."

"Ew." San said.

"What?"

"You're so weird when you act cute."

In response, Nayeon hugged San from the side, putting her chin on his shoulder, and pouting.

"Ew." He moved away from Nayeon in disgust.

"Let's go Ryujin, I don't want to be with her anymore." San said jokingly.

"Fine. I'll be waiting for my 30 dollars soon." Nayeon said, leaving the room as San was trying to stop Ryujin from crying.

Nayeon walked back to the living room. She checked her phone for the time and it was getting dark. She grabbed the book they left on the table and brought it to her bedroom.

She placed it on the bedside table on her side of the bed before going to the washroom and taking a shower and brushing her teeth. She changed into her pajamas, turned off the room lights, and leapt onto the bed.

Before going to sleep she went on her phone. She ended up going through her photo gallery.

In the beginning there were pictures of Ryujin, San, Momo and Heechul. There would be pictures of them hanging out or Nayeon's selfies. But as she scrolled down the gallery the photos changed into pictures of Jeongyeon.

There were pictures of her in Nayeon's old office. Pictures of Jeongyeon with Momo, pictures of Jeongyeon in her wolf form. Pictures of Jeongyeon making funny faces.

And the last picture of Jeongyeon Nayeon had was Jeongyeon in the park on Christmas eve, the day she died.

Nayeon didn't even realize that she was crying until she felt her tears touch her chest as they fell from her face. She looked down and held the necklace she's been wearing since Jeongyeon gave it to her before Christmas.

So she turned off her phone and reached to put it on the bedside table when she saw the book there. She put her phone on the table and grabbed the book, turning on the lamp, then flipping back to chapter 13.

She read the words in her head, reading the large paragraphs until she saw a paragraph title that caught her eyes.

"The Wolf King's Revival."
