The next morning San left for work after we ate breakfast together.
"I'm gonna go now. See you soon." He said, kissing me on the lips as I was feeding Ryujin her baby food.
"Bye." I said and he left the house. I looked at Ryujin, "Are you ready to see auntie Jeongie?"
"Gah!" I laughed at her attempt to say a word.
After she finished her food I brought her to my bedroom so I could change her clothes. I changed my clothes and grabbed the bag of items underneath the bed. Since there was no one to watch Ryujin I had to bring her with me.
In the car was Ryujin's stroller and the bag. Good thing we have 2 cars or else this would be much, much harder.
Ryujin sat in her baby seat in the back seats of the car and of course, I sat at the driver's wheel.
I looked back, "Are you ready to go?" She waved her arms around so I'll take that as a yes. I turned the car on and drove back to the graveyard where Jeongyeon lays.
10 minutes later I reach the gates that lead to the graveyard. I slowed down the car in front of the gate and it opened so I could drive through.
Turning left, I parked in the parking lot. Ryujin sat in the stroller I brought so I didn't have to carry her. Under the seat of the stroller the bag full of items I need.
It looks like I don't have to be sneaky here because luckily no one else was in the graveyard, well at least anyone living still.
Jeongyeon's grave wasn't the usual ones in the ground. I bought her one of those special graves where it's inside a small room made out of stone, and inside was her stone grave. It may have cost a lot but I'm glad I spent it because it would make reviving much more difficult.
Slowly I pushed Ryujin on her stroller to Jeongyeon's grave. Once we reached her grave, I pulled out the key that opened the stone room.
3rd Person POV
Nayeon pushed the stroller inside and closed the metal gate door behind her.
"Ryujin stay here." She said, even though the straps on the stroller prevented Ryujin from moving if she wanted to.
Nayeon pulled out the plastic bag and the book from the stroller, laying it all down on the floor. She opened the book to the page where her bookmark was placed. She read the pages carefully to make sure she isn't gonna miss an important step.
Something Nayeon was unsure about was if she needed to open Jeongyeon's grave. If possible she would like to keep it closed so she and Ryujin wouldn't be able to see her dead body or smell it.
She decided to keep it closed and if it didn't work she would try it again without Ryujin with her.
Nayeon quietly read the words of the ritual to herself, going into the bag and grabbing the items to set it up.
With some salt, she drew a circle around Jeongyeon's grave with 4 lines around the circle leading to the grave.
At the end of each line that touched the sides of the circle, she put and lit the candles. She flipped to the next page of the book and read it before continuing.
Because of the salt lines, it divided the circle into 4, with the middle being the grave. In each of the 4 sections an item is supposed to be there. In the first section Nayeon placed a mint leaf, in the second section a bag of sand, the third section was an apple and the last section was the ring.
But for the ritual to work, the book said someone's blood would be needed to be in the middle, where the body is.
From the bag Nayeon pulled out a small knife that was from the kitchen. She walked to the middle and made a cut on her left pointer finger.
With her other fingers she pushed as much blood out from her finger, letting it drip onto the stone grave.
Once she did that she stepped out of the salt circle. The book said one of the lit candles should be blown out by itself. That's when you know the ritual worked.
Nayeon waited quietly. Seconds passed by, then minutes of complete silence as Nayeon focused on the candles for one of them to be blown out. 10 minutes later Ryujin started crying, scaring Nayeon.
"What do you want Ryujin?" Nayeon asked, walking to her. "Are you hungry?"
She pulled out a bottle from the bottom of the stroller, pouring some water and powdered milk inside then feeding it to the hungry baby.
Ryujin held the plastic bottle by herself so Nayeon went back to watching the candles. She checked the time and San was gonna come back home from work in 30 minutes. It took Nayeon 10 minutes to drive here so she decided to wait 10 more minutes before going back home.
"Come on Jeongyeon. Please come back." Nayeon thought.
But as the time flew by, nothing happened, and the 10 minutes were up.
Nayeon sighed and started cleaning up. "What did I do wrong?" She said to herself.
She picked up the mint, sand, apple and ring. Then wiping the blood off of Jeongyeon's grave. Then she blew out the first candle, placing it in the bag. Blowing the second candle and putting it inside, then blowing out the 3 third candle and putting it in the bag, then putting the last candle in the bag.
She carefully cleaned up all of the salt on the ground, making sure she didn't leave anything else.
Nayeon sighed again, "I'll try again next week if I figure out what I did wrong." She looked at the book, "What if I can't revive Jeongyeon? This book is just full of myths, maybe reviving a Wolf King isn't possible?" She felt defeated. All of that work and waiting for nothing. She got her hopes up for disappointment.
"Let's go Ryujin." Nayeon said, putting the bag in the bottom of the stroller and going back to the car.
