Just What We Needed

Ooooh. I ended with quite the cliffhanger there, right?

Anyway, ready to find out what happens next?

Well, ready or not, here we go!

------------

Everyone's voices were piling on top of each other.

CLAY: We need to-

STARFLIGHT: Tsunami, this is bad, like-

SUNNY: We should tell-

"STOP!" I yelled, and everyone froze.

I pointed at Sunny. "Go."

She nodded. "We need to tell Glory."

Starflight and Clay nodded in agreement

"Also," Sunny continued, "Anemone gave you a bodyguard back home to protect you from Riptide. What was her name?"  Sunny paused, thinking. Then she snapped her talons. "Yes, Seashell. Ask Anemone to send her here. You need some protection. Who knows what will happen next, Tsu?"

"No," I said, waving my talons. "I'll tell Glory. Anemone doesn't need to know." I snap my talons at Starflight, muttering, "Star."

"I think we should get Seashell," he muttered quietly.

I inhale sharply. "No. Clay, go."

"I agree," he says, softly. "Protection for everyone."

I wave my talons angrily. "NO! CAN ANYONE LISTEN? I DON'T CARE, AT ALL, ABOUT ME. SHE THREATENED MY KIDS, DID YOU HEAR THAT?"

Sunny frowned. "I'm calling Glory."

I slowly sank to the floor, Clay rushing by my side as I let a single tear drip down my cheeks, Clay's wing wrapped around me. After a moment, I pushed him off and stood up. "I'm doing it. I'm going to the island."

Starflight scratched his neck nervously. "Um, no?"

I give him an annoyed look that I know he can't see. "Um, yes? I have to, you understand?" I ask, my eyes darting from Sunny and Clay and back.

After a slight hesitation, Clay groans. "We're coming with."

A strangled noise comes out of Starflight. "Do we have to?" he squeaked.

I frown, thinking. "She said come alone."

"But what if she kills you?" Sunny wailed.

Starflight's voice is full of panic when he speaks. "Killing? We're getting killed?"

I gently tapped his wing. "No, calm down. The only one dying is Dolphin," I spat.

"And Riptide," Sunny adds.

"And Riptide," I agreed.

Everyone is quiet for a moment, absorbed in their thoughts. Clay gave me a puzzled look. "What's your plan?"

Oh.

Right.

Plan.

Forgot to think about that part.

"I think..." I started slowly. "I think-"

"I don't think this is a good idea," a soft voice murmurs, and I roll my eyes, because I know exactly who the voice belongs to.

Especially since they knew plan before I announced it.

"Moon, get out."

The small NightWing sheepishly emerges from behind a crate of mangoes.

Sunny throws a panicked glance at me. "H-how much did you hear?"

"Enough?" Turtle said, rubbing his wing.

Clay rubbed his temples. "Moon, Turtle, I thought we were working on not spying on people?"

"I am!" she weakly protested. She freezes and cocks her head, her face going cloudy.

"No, no, no," Turtle said, going stiff. He snaps his t

Three moons, Moon. Is she reading my mind right now? Does she know what I'm thinking. BLINK TWICE IF YOU ARE, MOON.

Moon doesn't move or blink. She stays frozen, Sunny worriedly examining her. She held up two talons. "How many, Moon?"

Moon doesn't answer. Then she seized, her body contorting and twisting, falling to the floor.

"MOON!" Turtle screamed.

He rushed over to her, poking her, gently at first, but then more franticly.

Moon's jaw dropped open, words flying out of her mouth. She repeated nonsense once, then twice, before I realize what she's doing.

It's a prophecy.

I listened carefully to the words that fall out a third time, understanding the nonsense.

"Hear me speak, for this is the final time

A message, delivered in rhyme

A fight that will spark

A world going dark

And the dragon from water

Will wreak havoc upon a daughter

When one confides

it will reveal the secret who hides

And the one who seeks will finally see

Not all is as it appears to be."

With a shuddering jolt, her jaw slamed shut, the words gone as fast as they came. Moon sat up, looking around at everyone's terrified faces.

She laughed. "Did I spout a prophecy?"

I weakly nodded.

She laughed again, glancing at Turtle. "What was it this time? Turtle will fall in the water hole? Kinkajou will learn to tap dance?"

"H-h-have you been h-having a l-lot of prophecies recently?" Clay asked.

Starflight slowly nodded. "She should be. But nothing crazy; it's just her abilities growing up."

Moon shrugged, looking at Turtle. "So, what was it."

Turtle shut his eyes and started reciting what she just spoke, Moon paling with every word.

"T-t-that's a-a-a real prophecy," she whispered.

Sunny nodded. "I'm going to call for Glory."

Moon gave Turtle a frantic look, then promptly fainted.

"Great," I said, through clenched teeth. "The note, and now this. Just what we need."
