Early in the morning i heard my name faintly being called. "Gwen..."
I look up at a a small window facing the hallway and saw Lancelot crouched next to it. I stood up on the bed and faced him with a smile.
Gwen: Lancelot...
"i could not believe my eyes when i saw you"
Gwen: i thought my mind was deceiving me
"why does Hengist think you are lady Morgana"
Gwen: the badits that brought me captured us both at first but Morgana escaped and they still wanted their reward. So now Hengist believes he's holding Morgana for ransom. And once he realizes the truth...he won't need me alive anymore.
"i won't allow that to happen" i smiled at him as i was reminded of his honor and courage but I couldn't help but worry what him trying to help me would do
Gwen: only time will tell. What are you doing here? You're not one of his men i hope
"no" he replied so fast i almost laughed at his urgency not to dissapoint me
Gwen: what became of you after you left Camelot?
"there are a few opportunities for men like me. So I've been earning a living the only way i know; with a sword in my hand" he appeared so broken as he continued "it seems it is my destiny to entertain men like Hengist"
Gwen: no, i refuse to believe that. The Lancelot i knew was full of hope
"i was wrong. The world is not like that"
Gwen: don't say that. I still see the hope inside of you. I will not accept that kind of defeat and neither should you.
Lancelot places his hand between the bars on top of mine as he smiles "i have thought of you often. Have you thought of me at all?" I found myself nodding slowly not wanting to lie.
I admit he crossed my mind many times since he left Camelot...but that was before Arthur claimed my heart...maybe I'm being foolish thinking things could work out for us.
Gwen: i didn't think i would see you again.
The sound of keys on locks snapped us back as i turned to the entrance of the dungeon
Gwen: you must go, someone's coming.
"no matter what it takes, I'll find a way to get you out of here. I promise"
Gwen: be careful Lancelot
"i always am" i shake my head laughing as he leaves and i sit back on the bed waiting...

Not long after Lancelot's visit i had another one from Hengist. "i have not yet received word from Uther, that he intends to pay your ransom."
I focus on maintaining my facade and just give him my coldest look as he continues "i was informed that the king was extremely fond of his ward. Are you not surprised he's content to leave you here to die?"
Gwen: how am i to know the king's mind when I'm locked in your stinking cell?
"if i do not hear from Uther by dawn tomorrow, this stinking cell will be the last place you ever see."
As Hengist leaves laughing i sigh and sit back on the bed contemplating what i should do next...i guess i have no choice...i have to use magic to escape... on the other hand i can't leave Lancelot behind which means he must learn my secret if we are to be free.

My leg was really starting to hurt and not having any clean water isn't helping, so i decided to use some magic to aid my healing so it doesn't become worse. "Ic haele thina throwunga" - i could help but let out a small sigh of pain since the wound was already old and not treated properly...
As the burning sensation subsides i hear Lancelot's voice once more "Gwen..." I stand shakily on the bed but hesitate when i see his face...he heard me...
"you have magic"
Gwen: i- I was born with it... What are you doing here?
"i had to see you. I feared i might find the cell empty"
Gwen: might not be long now. There's been no word from Uther so Hengist is growing suspicious.
"you must keep up the pretense. I will not allow you to die here"
Gwen: Lancelot you can't risk your own life for mine
"i have little to live for"
Gwen: Lancelot don't say that
"it's the truth. For all my words, all i believed, I've come to nothing."
Gwen: stop it. Those are not your words. Those are not the words of Lancelot. The man who is by far the noblest, bravest and purist man in the five kingdoms. The knight in spirit and soul.
"Gwen...i...didn't know you felt this way"
Gwen: neither did i.
"then you have given me a reason to live"
I couldn't help but smile at him. I know that inside my heart belongs to Arthur, but that may be only place it stays...and Lancelot...well he is the first person who made me feel something...even if it was brief and a time ago...it was always there.
"be ready. I'll come for you before nightfall"
