The Bittersweet Return

Kwangmin's POV:

"Min Woo and the others were supposed to be back already, guys," I told Youngmin and Jeongmin. "That's why the families are calling this meeting. They want to know why they're not here."

"Jeongmin isn't in the shape to go. Not since..." Youngmin started, but I knew what he meant... our trip to NY to help Min Woo.

Jeongmin didn't even argue. It's why I had been overlooking the family business. Youngmin was better suited looking after Jeongmin right now. I could handle everything else.

"Don't worry about it," I started. "I'll go and handle this. You take care of Jeongmin. Text me if you hear anything from NY."

"Alright, just try not to start a war between all the families because you disrespected everyone, Kwang."

I nodded at him and left.

I reached Hyungwon's restaurant in Gangnam. It was where everyone that should be at the meeting was supposed to go. Hyungwon closed the restaurant for lunch so the heads of the families could discuss the situation. I just hoped Sumi wasn't there. We weren't allowed to tell her about what happened or was still happening in NY that was delaying the return. When I looked up, everyone stared at me in shock.

"Kwangmin. Where are your older brothers? Shouldn't one of them be here?" Shownu asked.

Noticing Sumi wasn't there, I looked at them and sat down.

"That's part of why the twins haven't returned. The oldest of my brothers in Seoul is Jeongmin and he hasn't been in that great of shape for a while," I told them. "So Youngmin is looking after him right now and I've been looking after everything else for the family."

"So, wait, your entire family is depending on you and Youngmin?" Top asked me.

"I wouldn't believe it either, but it's been like this for almost two months," I replied.

"You said your older brothers not being here was part of why Min Woo, Han, and the twins haven't returned yet," Mark said, focusing on the point of the meeting. "Explain that."

"Min Woo called the five of us to NY almost two months ago. Han went missing and he was worried that he was in over his head to get him back and keep the twins safe. We left right away and within a day were on our way to find Han. Hyunseong led me, Youngmin, and Min Woo to go after Han while Donghyun and Jeongmin stayed at the house to protect the twins and their pediatrician," I explained. "Don't ask about her... it's a complicated story. Anyway, when the five of us got back to the house, it was clear it had been attacked. We all heard crying from inside when we got out of the SUV and rushed in right after Min Woo and Han. They took the kids into Min Woo's room, but Jeongmin was hysterical next to Donghyun. He'd been shot and their pediatrician was trying desperately to stabilize him. We haven't heard much from NY since the three of us came back. Hyunseong told me and Youngmin to bring Jeongmin home and take care of family business until they returned. He stayed to try to take care of Donghyun with the twins' pediatrician at the house because it's law there that the doctor has to report gunshot wounds to the police if treated at her office, a hospital, anywhere that keeps records. We've been waiting to hear anything from Min Woo or Hyunseong about what's going on."

"Why didn't you tell me Donghyun had been shot?" Shownu demanded.

"Shownu, now's not the time," Top said. "He and Youngmin were given orders to look after their older brother and take care of the family business. That's a lot to put on them. Go easy on him. When we called the meeting, he didn't ignore that call. He came and explained everything."
