Okay just to be clear, I don't exactly hate him, but for most of his run, I didn't exactly like him either. I mean, the entirety of series 3 was basically just him crying over Rose and making Martha feel like shit, and the whole timelord victorious thing wasn't exactly in his favour either, so let's begin.Firstly, I hate how he never properly told Martha about Rose. He never really explained who she was to him, how he felt about her, etc. All he ever said was say how Rose was better than her in every aspect- how she was prettier, had better ideas, made him happier, and he just generally had a very demeaning attitude towards Martha overall. He took her away, and depended on her emotionally, but it was clear that she was just a rebound to him. He didn't love her back, but instead used her simply because he just needed someone subsequent to his heart being broken- and that was not okay at all, it was an absolutely shitty thing to do. And instead of simply just telling Martha that he needed a friend, he whined over Rose and let her fall in love with him in the meanwhile.
Because of him not telling her who Rose was, Martha felt like she was constantly having to fight against some woman from his past, she felt like they still had a relationship and that she was just getting in between them, which only hurt her more. The entire fandom seems to hate Martha for this, but it's the Doctor who's to blame. Plus, she had every right to react how she did, i mean he was constantly comparing her to Rose and reminding her how much she falls short so her reaction to all of that was completely acceptable.
Moving on, I absolutely hate how he thought being a time lord meant he had the power to control life and death. And like Adelaide said: "No one should have that much power", and she was right. Unlike the other Doctors, Ten just had this attitude of being better than everyone that really pissed me off. It's funny how he would always reiterate how he was so dead set against violence but then just stood there and watched as millions of the empress of Racnoss's children burned. Yes, it was to save everyone but he went so far that Donna had to step in and tell him to stop.
Now, ofc I hate Davros, but I was literally clapping at his little speech in Journey's End (S4 E13) because it was so damn true:
"The man who abhors violence. Never carrying a gun. But this is the truth, Doctor. You take ordinary people and you fashion THEM into weapons. Behold your Children of Time, transformed into murderers. I made the Daleks, Doctor. You made this"
I hate you Davros, but you told the truth my guy. The tenth Doctor made people want to die for him, to impress him (like Rory said)- and it's all cause of how he portrayed himself as some sort of god. Lynda died for him, Harriet died for him, Astrid died for him, Luke Rattigan died for him, Chantho died for him, River died for him, and so many others too.
For the entirety of his run, the tenth doctor always said how he doesn't have certain control over things, and how some things are set and they have to happen, but then oop all of a sudden he gets a little too bigheaded in The Waters Of Mars (S4 E16) and now the rules and regulations of time and space don't apply to him anymore. 🤯 I mean he rly thought he was doing something by saving Adelaide and the others, but he put history on the line, and if Adelaide hadn't killed herself when she got home, her granddaughter would've never gone out to see the stars and explore other planets and whatnot, that version of her may have never existed and history would've been corrupted, the entire future of the human race would've changed.
('Time can be written- people can't')
And when Adelaide told him off and said "you should've left us there", this son of a bitch had the audacity to say "I've done this before, in small ways, saved some little people", and oh boy am i fucking glad she sorted him out:
"Little people? Who decides they're so unimportant? You??"
But ofc he literally just ignores her and starts to say something along the lines of "for a long time i thought i was just a survivor but i'm not"
And that's also one of the many things I dislike about the tenth doctor, he continually brings up his past and acts like a little bitch like 'omG mY enTiRe rAce diEd likE almOst a thOusAnd yEarS agO buT iM stiLL cRyiNg ovEr tHem eVen thO i killEd thEm oOp'.Like shut up please, i beg of you. Everyone goes through loss ffs, and he makes out everyone else's losses to be so minor compared to his and that's not fair at all.
Last but not least, his little tantrum that he threw in The End Of Time- Part 2. It's when Wilfred went into the radiation chamber thing to save the other guy, and after everything is over, the Doctor turns around and starts having a bitch fit, i mean, Wilfred even apologised and he just turns away and says 'sUre'. Wilf knew that Ten would die if he went in there, so he even told him "just leave me" (because once again, someone is willing to sacrifice themselves for the doctor), and Ten literally just starts to cry and go on a rant.
And this bit, this is when I felt like punching him: Wilf says something like "Just leave me, Im an old man, I've had my time". And the doctor just shouts at him and says "Exactly. You're not remotely important, but me!- I could do so much more".
And I hated him so much for that. It's like Adelaide said, who the fuck is he to pick and choose who's important and who isn't? Wilfred literally saved the man out of the kindness of his heart, he had no intention of harming the Doctor, he didn't even know what would happen, yet Ten still decided to chew him out and let out all his anger onto him. I get that he was scared of dying, but unlike Wilf, he'd be able to regenerate. So instead of simply swapping places with Wilf and going into the radiation chamber, he starts going on a rant about how he's so much better and doesn't deserve to die 💀
And that, ladies and gentlemen, is why I think the Tenth Doctor is a hypocritical little bastard and was the worst incarnation of them all ❤️
