2: Stolen

19 year old Flynn Rider was running on the palace roof.  He looked over the view.

"Wow! I could get used to a view like this."

"Flynn, come on!"

"Hold on." he stared for a moment longer, "Yep, I'm used to it. Guys, I want a castle."

"We do this job, you can buy your own castle."

Flynn groaned, "Why do I specifically have to do this again?"

"Because your the only one with the skills."

Without a further word they lowered him inside the castle.

Flynn quietly snatched the crown.

One of the guards sneezed.

"Hay fever?" asked Flynn before he could stop himself.

He mentally scolded himself.

'Idiot. You just made yourself known!'

"Yeah. Huh? Wait, wait. Hey! Wait!"

Flynn frantically motioned for the Stabbingtons to pull him up.

As they were running, he started rambling like he did when he was scared of being caught.

"Can't you picture me in a castle of my own? I mean, I certainly can. Oh, the things we've seen and it's only eight in the morning. Gentlemen, this is a very big day." Suddenly his hair flopped in front of his face.

"Oh come on!" he shouted and tried to put it back without losing the crown, "Get back you stupid hair!" he said.

Flynn sighed and gave up letting his blue and black hair block his vision, "Some one tell me if I'm about to run off a cliff!!!"

"This is a very big day, Owl. I'm actually going to do it. I am going to ask her."

Owl hooted.

"What? No, it's not pathetic, you're pathetic."

"CASSANDRA! Let down you're hair."

"Finally! Go hide, Owl, otherwise she'll see you!"

Owl flew up and perched on a beam.

"Cassandra! I'm not getting any younger down here!"

"Coming, Mama!" Cassandra says hurrying over and tossing out her periwinkle hair.

"Welcome home, Mama."

"Oh, Cassandra. How you manage to do that every single day, without fail, it looks absolutely exhausting, darling."

"It's actually nothing." said Cassandra shrugging.

"Then I don't know why it takes so long."

Cassandra raised an eyebrow as Mother Gothel laughed.

"Oh, I'm just teasing, darling, stop taking everything so seriously." she said as she looked at her relflection.

"So, Mama... Tomorrow is a very big day-"

"Cassandra look at that mirror. You know what I see? I see a strong, confident, beautiful young lady. Oh look, you're here too. I'm just teasing, stop taking everything so seriously." she said.

"Right. Back to my point. So for tomorrow-"

"Jewel, Mummy's feeling a bit down, could you sing for me dear? Then we'll talk."

Cassandra was exasperated.

"Fine." she quickly pushed her mother into a chair and began to sing very fast as her hair glowed turquoise,

 "Moonlight, gleam and glow;

Let your power shine;
Make sure that death can't;
Claim this soul of mine;

Heal my dying soul;
Change the fate's design;
Save what will be lost;
Save this soul of mine;

This sould of mine;"

"Cassandra!"

Cassandra was done listening, "So, Mama, so when I said earlier that tomorrow was a big day, you didn't respond, so I'll just tell you myself. It's my birthday!"

"No, no, no can't be. I distinctly remember. Your birthday was last year."

Cassandra's eye twitched. Was she really this dumb.

"Mom, birthdays happen every year! And I really want to-"

"Cassandra please, stop with the mumbling. You know how I feel about the mumbling. Blah, blah, blah,...blah. It's very annoying. I'm just teasing, you're adorable I love you so much, darling."

"I want to see the floating lights!" cried Cassandra desperatley.

"What?"

"Well, what I mean was, can you take me to see the floating lights." she said as she showed her the painting.

"Oh. You mean the stars."

"That's the thing I've charted stars and they're always constant. But these, they appear every year on my birthday, Mother. Only on my birthday. And I can't help but feel that they're, They're meant for me. I need see them, Mother. And not just from my window. In person. I have to know what they are. I feel like connected to my destiny."

"You want to go outside? Why, Cassandra..!

Look at you, as fragile as a flower
Still a little sapling, just a sprout
You know why we stay up in this tower

"I know but-"

"That's right! To keep you safe and sound dear.
Guess I always knew this day was coming
Soon, that you'd want to leave the nest
Soo, but not yet"

"But-"

"Shh.
Trust me pet
Mother knows best.

Mother knows best
Listen to your mother
It's a scary world out there

Mother knows best
One way or another
Something will go wrong, I swear

Ruffians, thugs
Poison ivy, quicksand
Cannibals and snakes
The plauge"

"No!"

"Yes!
Also large bugs
Men with pointy teeth and stop no more you'll just upset me!"

Cassandra rolled her eyes. Drama Queen.

"Mother's right here
Mother will protect you
Darling here's what I suggest

Skip the drama
Stay with Mama
Mother knows best

Mother knows best
Take it from your mumsy
On your own, you won't survive

Sloppy, underdressed
Immature, clumsy
Please, they'll eat you up alive!

Gullible, naive
Positivley grubby
Ditzy and a bit

Well, hm, vauge

Plus, I believe
Gettin kinda chubby
I'm just saying cause I wuv you

Mother understands
Mother's here to help you
All I have is one request!
"

Cassandra ran into her arms.

"Cassandra?"

"Yes?"

"Don't ever ask to leave this tower, again." she threatened.

Cassandra looked down, defeated.

"Yes, Mama."

"I love you so much, dear."

"I love you more."

"I love you most.
Don't forget it!
You'll regret it...
Mother knows best
"

"I'll see you in a bit my jewel!" cried Gothel as Cassandra lowered her out of the tower.

"I'll be here." she said dejectedly.

The wind blew her hair to the side as Cassandra sighed and watched her mother fade from sight
