You slipped your phone back into your pocket as the girl who claimed she was picking up Tom sat with her arms crossed over her chest, still staring at you. You swallowed nervously as you watched her with your peripheral vision, not wanting to make eye contact again, and hoping to avoid another conversation.
"Are you sure you're supposed to be picking him up?" she finally said, sounding irritated.
"That was the general idea I got when he texted me to pick him up," you snapped, turning to look at her. She narrowed her eyes at you and shifted in her seat.
"It's just that my father told me that I could pick him up."
"What does your father have to do with any of this?" Her eyes lit up in a way that made you uncomfortable.
"Oh, you don't know? Daddy is Tom's new agent! Apparently, his old one wasn't really good, but my father is the best, and he promised me that I could pick Tom up." She gave you a brief once-over and held her head up, almost in disgust. "He obviously forgot to mention it to Tom, I suppose."
"What a shame. But since I'm here, and he's expecting me, you can go ahead and leave." The girl laughed.
"No, I don't think that I will. Daddy told me to pick up Tom, so I'm going to pick up Tom."
"Then you'll be disappointed when he goes home with me," you muttered under your breath. A sudden wave of shouting caught you off guard and you jumped, turning toward the source of the noise. There was a group of people coming down to the baggage claim area, most of them shouting questions that you couldn't understand.
There were several flashes of light, and you realized that it was paparazzi. You were so busy fighting with this girl that you didn't even realize that Tom's plane had landed!
"Y/N?" Tom's voice called out above the crowd. You instantly began to smile at the sound of his voice as you saw him push his way toward you, beaming. "Y/N!" He wrapped you in a tight hug, and you buried your head into his neck. "I missed you so much," he mumbled.
"Not as much as I missed you."
"Uh, excuse me, Tom?" Both you and Tom ignored the girl at first, and you hoped that she would simply walk away. "Tom?" she said a little louder. "I'm supposed to pick you up!"
"Pick me up?" Tom let go of you and grabbed your hand, interlacing your fingers with his as he turned to the girl. "I don't think so," he said, turning to go to luggage claim.
"My father said that I was supposed to bring you to dinner? You have a meeting with him? With your agent, Michael Jones?" Recognition filled Tom's eyes.
"Ooh, that's right. Then you must be Cassy." The girl nodded, quickly glancing at you before looking back at him.
"That's right. My father said it's urgent that you meet with him about your upcoming auditions. He sent me with his driver." Tom turned to look at you.
"I completely forgot about the meeting," he whispered, quickly kissing you on the cheek. "I thought it was next week." He turned back to Cassy. "Let me just get my bags, and Y/N and I can follow you to the restaurant." Cassy's smile faltered, but she quickly recovered.
"Ok. Sounds good! I'll call him and let him know that you're here." She gave Tom another forced smile before she disappeared into the crowd.
"Guess the evening's ruined, huh?" Tom said as the two of you began walking toward baggage claim. "I'm so sorry."
"No, it's fine. I'm just glad you're back." Tom smiled at you and gave your hand a small squeeze.
"After the meeting, I'm all yours for an entire week." You rested your head on his shoulder as you walked, smiling. The world was finally right.
