I looked at Heaven as I held her in my arms. I made funny faces at her and she smiled making me smile. I walked into the kitchen as Leilani was on the phone.
"Alright.......how soon?..... Thank you" she ended the phone call and looked at me
"So?" I ask putting heaven on the blanket on the couch.
"Well... they told me that. The state's Department of Family and Child Services will likely take custody of Heaven and try to find any relatives. But until then she has to stay here with us. But if they can't find any other relatives we can then try to apply to be a foster parent or to adopt her." She shrugs "who in the hell would leave there baby at someone's doorstep! And obviously, it's someone you know. Because that letter said our names"
I looked at heaven and back at Leilani "this is fucking crazy. She's so precious and cute. And why leave the baby at my doorstep? All this don't fucking make sense man."
Leilani walked towards heaven. Leilani picked her up.

So, last night someone left a baby outside my door. We took the baby bathed her and made sure she had no injuries or nothing. We tried to sleep last night but she kept on crying so I had a little one on one time with her. She likes Leilani a lot more than me.
"Your parents abandoned you too huh?" Leilani asked heaven.
"Come on now," I said
"What?" She snaps "parents out here the throwing away they kids like someone gonna picks them up and buy them! You don't throw away your kids like they are trash or an old piece of cardboard! You keep them! Better yet the parents should have used protection better yet birth control! But it hurts that this little infant was left outside for god knows how long in the freezing cold at night." Leilani's eyes got all watery and I walked up towards her.
I cupped her cheeks "don't cry...Stop crying. You know I got a thing when you all crying." I looked down at heaven and the. The door opened.
