Eugene and Lance grab Mother as Hook Foot begins tying Father up.
"Lance, would you hurry it up?" Eugene shouts as Mother flaps and squawks in their grasp.
"I'm trying!" Lance shouts back, attempting to wrap the rope around her flailing wings.
Varian watches as Cassandra finally begins to enjoy being a bird, twisting and twirling through the air. He smiles, but then he notices Rapunzel is still a bird too, sitting in front of the downed birdcage looking crestfallen.
"Rapunzel, aren't you ready to change back?" He asks her, kneeling down to face her.
She sighs, and looks up at him with tears in her eyes. "There's only one egg left," she tells him.
He gasps, glancing at the single egg. "I-I'm so sorry, Rapunzel. If I had known, I would have never..." He looks up again at Cassandra, who seems so happy. He doesn't think he could stand not having her in his life. But Rapunzel has become like a sister to him. How could he go on without her, either? He wishes he had let them have his own egg.
"Woo-hoo-hooooo!" Cassandra exclaims, flying through and landing in front of the two of them, oblivious to the conundrum they face. "Raps, I take it all back! That was—"
Rapunzel suddenly grabs the egg and breaks it open over Cassandra. Varian covers his mouth with his hand, unsure how to react.
"Oh... Okay. Okay, that was abrupt." Cassandra smiles as she lets Rapunzel land on her hand. "But let's turn you back now. Alright, where's an egg?" She reaches for the basket, but sees that there aren't any left. With a nervous chuckle she says, "There's another egg, right?"
She begins to grow worried as she sees the deep sadness on Rapunzel's face. She glances over at Varian, who shakes his head slowly as tears begin to cloud his eyes. She turns back to Rapunzel in shock. "You used the last egg on me?"
Rapunzel nods, and Cassandra begins to panic. "No, but that means you can't... No!" She drops to the ground, frantically searching through all the broken pieces of eggshell littered across the grass. Unsuccessful, she throws the basket in frustration.
Varian walks over to her, and places one hand on her shoulder as she remains kneeled. With the other hand, he clutches the bandana Rapunzel gave him. A symbol of their friendship... And now all he'll have left of her.
