CHAPTER 19
A good day?
[Afterschool]
They go home together for the first time!
"This is such a good day!" Lowanne shouted.
"Guys, I hope my dad won't catch me walking home with you all." Albert said.
"Being in an overprotected family is so annoying, right?" Mark blurted.
"Yeah, that's why Kian can't also define family, your family's overprotected too ah." Paul said.
"What? Can you even define family?" Hera asked him.
"Oh, sorry. I don't even know how too." he said.
"Are ya defending me?" Kian asked Hera and smiled wistfully.
"Why am I supposed to defend you?" Hera asked and rolled her eyes.
"Don't be rude, Hera." Lowanne said.
"It's just..annoying Lowanne." she said and her eyes cast down.
It's already 5pm in the afternoon when they walk home. While they are busy talking with each other, Albert's dad driving the car suddenly stopped at their front.
"My dad's already here." he said and waved goodbye at them. When he's about to open the door his dad go out.
"Dad? Ba't lumabas ka pa?" he asked.
He's dad didn't replied and he stand infront of his friends.
"Are you all friends of Albert?" Albert's dad asked with his eyebrows raised. They didn't answered but they just nodded.
"You have some girl friends too ah?" he murmured. And they were looking at each other.
"Dad, let's go." Albert said and his dad raised his palm telling him to shut up.
"I'm overprotected to my son. I don't want him to be involve in drugs, gangs or whatever that may cause danger to him. Even at the house I never let him out." he said in a deep voice.
Albert's friends were looking down and also thinking of what his father really meant.
"Straight to the point. I don't want my son to be with you all." he stated and turn around. Albert went confused and he became angry.
"Dad!" he exclaimed.
He's dad opened the door for him and let him in and he drove the car and went away.
"Dad, what's that all about?" he asked.
"I just want to protect you." he's dad gasped and Albert's brows furrowed.
"He doesn't want us to be friends with Albert?" Diana asked.
"I don't know." Jonathan replied and went away.
"Jonathan, where are you going?" Paul asked.
"This doesn't even make sense." he replied.
"Maybe, I should go home alone now." Lowanne sighed and when she's about to walk, Mark grabbed her hand and looked at her.
The rest were all going home by themselves.
"Lowanne. Wait." Mark said in a low voice.
"Let's talk." he added.
They went into a restaurant and ordered a coffee.
"What do you need?" Lowanne asked.
"I just wanna tell you about my family." he said.
"Kung may itutulong ako?" she asked and sips her coffee.
"Yes, definitely." he gasped.
"Kung ganyan lang naman. Wala na akong maitutulong diyan." she said and put her cup down.
"W-why?" he stammered.
"Even so do I have family problems." she said and stood up.
Mark also stood up at pinigilan na naman niya si Lowanne.
"Sorry for disturbing you. I just want someone to help me." he said and Lowanne don't know why his eyes watered.
"I hope you'll understand me, Lowanne." he said and wipe his tears. Lowanne looked at him with sadness in her eyes. She felt sorry for him.
"Because you're the reason why am still living to reach my dreams." he added and went away.
Lowanne was so confused of what just happened. She doesn't even expected that this day will be the worst, not just her but all of them realize this too.
When Mark came home, he saw his dad already sound asleep at the living room.
"Mark, ba't ngayon ka pa?" his mother asked and she crossed her arms.
He didn't answer and he just went through to the kitchen at napaupo sa lamesa.
"Mark, sagutin mo'ko." his mother said.
"I just hang out with my friends, that's all." he stated.
"Ba't di ka agad sumagot?" she asked suspiciously.
But Mark didn't answered again at dumiritso na naman siya sa kwarto niya.
