CHAPTER 24

A Visit

It was weekend and the weather's hot. Paul came to visit Jonathan at their house.

*knock knock* and someone opened the door.

"I'm Paul, I'm Jonathan's friend." he introduced himself to Jonathan's father who was the one who opened the door and he let him in.

"Where is he?" he asked.

"He's at his room, I think he's still asleep." Jonathan's father replied and looked up.

"May I go up and check him?" Paul asked for permission.

And Jonathan's father nodded.

He slowly climbed up stairs, there are pictures on the walls. There house is quite big, and it's very neat. He noticed Jonathan's room because his name was written on a paper hanged on the door.

He knocked at the door. But Jonathan didn't opened it. So he just gonna go in with himself and he found Jonathan inside lying at the bed fast asleep.

"Hey Jonathan!" he yelled at him.

"Ohh.. He woke him up.." Jonathan's father sighed and the mother shook her head.

Jonathan suddenly woke up.

"What? What's going on?!" he was frightened. And when he turn at his side, he was shocked that it was Paul and slapped him.

"Jonathan! What's with you!" Paul exclaimed and hold his cheeks.

"It hurts, you know.." he added.

"Why are you here? You should've asked permission on me before going in." Paul said and glance.

"Like what? Am gonna wait for you to woke up?" Paul asked suspiciously.

" Why are you here?"

"I just wanted to visit you. Seems like you're mad at me. And wow! What a big house of yours.." Paul said and added some compliment.

"I'm not mad, am just upset." Jonathan sighed.

"What Albert's dad told us last week, It won't really get off from my mind." Paul said.

"I already expected that it would really happen." Jonathan said and pick up his water bottle, opened it and drink.

"You expected that to happen? What? Are you a shaman?"

Jonathan didn't know he came up with a question like this and he suddenly spit the water on him.

"Why are you so!!"

"Jonathan! Did you know what you're doing ah? Did you ever know--" Jonathan covered Paul's mouth or else he would be shouting and his parents would be coming at his room.

"Okay, I'm sorry so shut up now!" he murmured.

"Aha..no friends are permanent." Jonathan added and drink again some of his water.

"What, you're being quiet now?" Jonathan asked Paul who was glaring at him.

"I won't say a word until you are already done drinkin' your water or you'll spit on my face again."

"Okay, I'm sorry.." Jonathan apologized.

"Hey, but there are friends who are willing to stay, right?" Paul replied on him.

"They are some. I hope you're one." Jonathan said and smiled at Paul.

"So aren't you upset on me now?" Paul asked and put his legs on the bed.

"Hey, get that legs off from my bed!" Jonathan exclaimed.

"Well, answer my question first!"

"Yes, I'm not upset anymore. You're a good friend." Jonathan said and Paul instantly put his legs off from his bed.

"So, Haven't you eaten yet?" Jonathan asked him and started to make the bed.

"Nope." Paul replied and laughed. And he lie on his bed.

"Get off from my bed or I'll fold you like my blanket!"

"Well, the truth is, I'm already done eating. But if I'm welcome to join the table with your family, then..." Paul said and stood up.

"Yes, you're my visitor. I'll really prepare a food for you."

"You're such a good person too, Jonathan. Hope you'll not always be a quiet guy to me, and I've realized you're fun to talk to. We still have many things to chitchat." Paul said and stood at the door.

Jonathan chuckled.

"I'm not really the quiet guy you knew." he said and take Paul downstairs with him.

"Jonathan, are you mad at Albert?" Paul asked.

"Ahh, I don't know." Jonathan replied.

"I didn't really expect we'd be bestfriends with that Albert." Paul said and chuckled.

The day is over, the visit is no more. Jonathan was in his room, lying on his bed. He thought to see some childhood photos on his albums.

"If there's only a time machine, I want to get back that time, when we were just little. I won't be coward again, I won't run away."
