CHAPTER 7

The Month Of July

ALBERT'S POV

It was a fresh start of july and we officers are preparing and planning for Nutrition Month.

[School Council]
"Okay!" I said and slam the table. We're having a meeting at the school council.

"I want a nice and well-prepared activities, so you officers do your job diligently!"
"Yes Pres.!" everyone answered except for this one pip here..

"Hey you! Aren't ya listening?"
Dahan-dahan siyang lumingon sakin.
"What's your position..ulet?" I asked with a confused expression on my face.
"I'm the secretary here." he answered in a low voice.
Huminga muna ako ng malalim.

"You're the secretary so I expected that you knew the rules, because you're the one who takes-down-notes.. But are ya taking notes?"
And he showed me his notebook, and it was empty.
Everyone goes shookt when our secretary showed me his notebook with confidence that it has no notes there, not even one word.

"Are you insane?"
"I'm not insane, it's all in my brain, stored and will never be erased." he answered while having an eye contact with me.
"Then prove it."

"I can prove it, by works." he answered and raised his eyebrow.
I tapped his shoulder two times and drew nearer to him and whisper at his ear.

"You know, you really fit to be the secretary here, very bold! But please.. Don't answer me like am just after your position, okay?"
Everyone's eyes were at us.
"It's nothing, just a private conversation between the two-of-us."

I clap my hands, a sign that the meeting is already done. Everyone go out except for our secretary and me. Nakaupo lang siya at nakatutok sa board na parang may malalim na iniisip. Kay di muna ako lumabas at inantay ko si Secretary.

"Hey."
He instantly looked at me.
"What's your name?" I asked.
"Jonathan, Jonathan Deño." he answered and smiled.
"Well, I'm sorry about kanina. I can't hold my anger on you kase." I uttered and he didn't answered but he just smiled.
"Are you really that serious?" I asked.
"Am just quiet." he said and stood up and was about to go out.
"Hmm he's nice." I said.

First day for Nutrition Month activities.
I joined the nutri quiz, but actually I was just forced, my classmates always wanted me to be the contestant.

Nang papunta na ako sa contest room, nakasalubong ko si Jonathan.
"Hi Jonathan!" inakbayan ko siya habang naglalakad kami.
"Oh, hello."
"Contestant ka rin ba sa nutri quiz?" I asked and he nodded.
"Galing mo talaga!" I rubbed his head.
"Tabi tayo ha." I added.

And we came already at the contest room and we sat down. I looked around and I noticed that the girls are staring at me. I waved at them.

"Alam mo, mananalo talaga yan si Albert!"
"Oo nga, napakatalino niyan!"
I heard the girls talking about me. A few minutes later the chairs were about to be full. My ballpen rolled from my armchair and it rolled under the chair of this nerd boy on my side.

"E-em. Would you please pick up the ballpen for me, it's under your chair."
But he didn't listen, he's very busy reading his book.
"Hey, could you?" still he didn't listened.
So I just stood up and he was shocked when I was about to pick up my ballpen under his chair.

"Anong ginagawa mo diyan?" he asked.
"Picking up my ballpen because you won't."
He's expression went questionable.
"Hindi ko naman alam ah na nandiyan pala ballpen mo." he uttered at tumayo ako agad.

"Hey, I--- okay nevermind." bumalik agad ako sa upuan ko, baka mapatungo pa ito sa gulo.
Bumalik siya sa pagbabasa. Anong klaseng tao ka...

The contest was already done!
And I win and Jonathan is 2nd placer.
"Jonathan, you did a great job!"
"But it's not me actually, I can't do it without the help of God." he smiled and went away.
"Yeah, you're right."
And the nerd was passing by and he was reading.
"Watch your steps boy." I said and he lowered his book.
"I'm an expert."
"Woah! Okay fine, I know you are!"
This boy can cause me big trouble!
