Sam's POV

The sun rose, making my eyes open and squint at the brightness. I stretched my wings, the exciting feeling of being able to see Colby again today. I flew down to the ground, grabbing some berries and eggs for breakfast. I started a small fire, cracking the eggs on top of a pan and hearing them sizzle and cook. I ate the berries from yesterday and decided that when I went back, I would bring a much bigger cloth. The eggs began to finish when I flipped them onto a plate. The scent of the savory eggs filled my nose. I picked up my fork, the eggs reaching my mouth, and soon down to my stomach.
"Mmm," I hummed, finishing my eggs. My wings took me to my room, me grabbing a bigger piece of cloth. "Hey mom, I'm going to hang out with my friend, Colby all day so don't be worried if I'm gone all day."
"Okay sweetie, just be safe and try to be home by dark." She replied.
I stretched my wings and flew off to the blackberry bush. I started to pick some of the berries while waiting for Colby to arrive. I couldn't wait to see his sweet smile again and not to mention his bright blue eyes. Suddenly, I heard wings bat the air and a thud on the ground.
"Hey Colby!" I smiled.
"Hi Sam!" Colby giggled, walking towards me. "How are those berries?" He asked.
"Yummy, want to try?" I asked, plopping one into my mouth and handing him one.
"Sure, I've actually never had these before." He took the berry and placed it in his mouth. "Mmm," he hummed, closing his eyes for a second.
"Good huh?" I giggled.
"Yeah..." He smiled. "I see why you like them so much."
"Yeah," I smiled. "What forest is this anyways?" I asked.
"Deep Rose." He responded, swallowing more berries.
"Ooh, I come from Halo forest," I add.
"I've heard of that forest. Seems really bright and magical." He replied.
"It is."
"So, tell me about yourself. Just, everything." He laughed.
"Okay, well, I'm 17, and I live with my mom a few miles away from here." I point down the forest.
"I'm 18, I live with my mom and dad about a mile that way," Colby responded.
"Hey, we're close in age so that's good." I laughed.
"Yeah, we are." He smiled.

Colby and I talked the whole day, learning a lot about each other and basically becoming best friends. We ended up at my secret hideout in a tree. A board with blankets, pillows, and books for reading and writing in. There's another board leaning against the tree with twinkle lights lining it. I go there a lot to think and watch the sunset.

"You're nothing like the things my mom said about dark angels," I mentioned.

"And you're nothing like what my parents said either." Colby leaned on his arm, placing it behind me. "You've taught me a lot Sam. We shouldn't be scared of each other because the color of our wings doesn't make a difference. You're so kind and I could never think of you as bad." He scooted closer, me resting my head on his shoulder. I felt a feeling, a feeling I couldn't explain. A shock of some sort, buzzing through my whole body as my head met his shoulder. Our wings wrapped around each other, Colby's arm being placed on my right shoulder. I felt my cheeks getting red as we sat in silence, listening to the birds and wind in the trees. I'd never felt this way before. I wasn't sure of my sexuality but knew that Colby meant something else to me that no friends could feel. I know that it was our second day seeing each other but, I felt love for him. I wanted to stay in his arms forever. It didn't matter that he was a dark angel, nothing mattered when I was in his touch...
