Third didn't know when he fell asleep, all he knew is that he was up now. Moments before, he strained his half-asleep eyes to see the obnoxiously bright 5:00 A.M displayed on his alarm clock; now he was left staring at the ceiling of the dark room. He wanted nothing more than to still be asleep right now, he certainly wasn't the type to wake up at 5 o'clock in the morning for fun, but now he was on high alert. Third guessed the reason his body decided to wake up at this ungodly hour, was because of the unfamiliar situation he was in right now. The boy he wanted to not be close to the most was laid right by his side, filling Third with anxiety and unfathomable emotions. He knew he shouldn't let his mom's words get to him because she didn't mean them, but he couldn't get them out of his mind. "Don't ruin this one like you did with the last." It was like a reality check. Who did Third think he was dragging Khai into the mess of his life? He would ruin anything good in one way or another: all he ever did was cause pain. What was worse, is that Third knew his feelings towards Khai was becoming more than that of a friendship. He knew that Khai made him feel differently than anyone else had before. He knew Khai would be trouble from the moment he saw him: Khai was completely his type with his bad boy aura and dark features. It was hard for Third to trust someone like Khai. He seemed to be on a different level than Third and he knew all too well what people like Khai did to people like himself. Third never planned to befriend Khai, and when he helped him on the first day he came to their school, it annoyed him to no end. Why would someone like Khai help someone like Third? Third wasn't used to it, it made him confused and he hated that more than anything. Every day was like a waiting game. When would Khai show his true colors? There were countless times Khai annoyed Third to no end, sometimes rightfully so when Third had been rude to him, but he never changed in the way Third expected him to. When the realization hit Third that Khai could actually be a good person, it became even more important for him to push him away. He knew from the beginning that in the unlikely prospect they somehow became close, he wouldn't be able to see Khai as just a friend. Third knew he would fall for Khai eventually, yet he still let it happen. How could he be so selfish? There was no way Khai would ever like him back.
"Must your thoughts be so loud this early in the morning?" Khai groaned softly, effectively startling the small boy next to him.
"Oh my fucking god" Third gasped putting a hand over his chest. His heart was already not in good condition and now Khai must have put it off the radar. He wouldn't be surprised if his sleeping parents could hear his rapidly beating heart from the living room. Third was so taken aback that he even thought for a second that Khai had somehow literally heard all his thoughts. Thankfully he didn't say that aloud because that would have been even more embarrassing. "How long have you been up? You scared the shit out of me."
"Not for long" Khai said, seemingly having no remorse for scaring the boy next to him, "I would still be asleep if it wasn't for you."
"If it wasn't for me? I've been completely quiet" Third said irritably as he whacked the man stretching his arms over his head with a pillow.
"Like I said, your thoughts were loud" Khai rolled his eyes as he took the pillow out of Third's hands and threw it aside.
"Oh so what you're a mind reader now?" Third glared.
"You caught me" Khai said sarcastically with a laugh. "I'm glad I can't because just feeling the aura of your thoughts is annoying enough."
"Imagine actually being the one dealing with the thoughts" Third sighed softly.
Khai turned on his side to look at the boy next to him, "Oh yeah? Want to talk about it?" Khai knew there was no point in really asking before he even spoke, Third never told anyone what he was thinking.
