Chapter 4

Mr. Tanner started talking about the battle of willow creek which because of my impeccable knowledge of history I knew a little bit about it. I enjoyed history it intrigued me to learn about what happened in past lives and how much the future differs from the past.

As Søren Kierkegaard once said 'life must be lived forward, but it can only be understood backward.'

"The Battle of Willow Creek took place right at the end of the war in our very own Mystic Falls. How many casualties resulted in this battle? Ms. Bennett?" Mr.Tanner said

"Um . . . a lot? I'm not sure. Like a whole lot." Bonnie replies

"Cute becomes dumb in an instant, Ms. Bennett. Mr. Donovan? Would you like to take this opportunity to overcome your embedded jock stereotype?"

"It's okay, Mr. Tanner, I'm cool with it." Matt replies

"Hmm. Elena? Surely you can enlighten us about one of the town's most significantly historical events?" Mr. Tanner says, annoyed

"I'm sorry, I--I don't know." Elena replies a little nervous.

"I was willing to be lenient last year for obvious reasons, Elena. But the personal excuses ended with summer break." Mr . Tanner says.

Who the hell does he think he is bringing that up. He has no right.

"There were 346 casualties. Unless you're counting local civilians." Stefan said

"That's correct. Mister?....."

"Salvatore" stefan said.

"Salvatore, any relation to the old settlers here in Mystic falls?" Mr. Tanner asked, interested.

"Distant" stefan replied.

"Well, very good. Except, of course, there were no civilian casualties in this battle."

"Actually, there were 27, sir. Confederate soldiers, they fired on the church, believing it to be housing weapons. They were wrong. It was a night of great loss. The founder's archives are, uh, stored in civil hall if you'd like to brush up on your facts. Mr. Tanner." I stated

The class fell into chants of 'oohs' and 'burns'. I was quite proud of myself. Ha I do know things.

"Hmm" Mr.Tanner said obviously embarrassed.

After school me and Elena went home to get ready for the bonfire later tonight. As soon as we got inside the house we called out for Jenna but she didn't answer so I guessed she was out. We then went upstairs to start getting ready; Elena went into her room and I went into mine.

I then decided to go in the shower and wash my hair. After I finished I blow dried my hair and curled it. I then did eye make up which consisted of gold and black eyeliner with a small flick. (I don't like to have any foundation on or any other make up items for that matter because I don't feel like I need it nor does anyone for that matter)

After that I walked into my bedroom. I put on black skinny jeans and a black tank top with a leather jacket and black heeled ankle boots. Once I was finished with everything I knocked on Elena's bedroom door to see if she was ready.

"Come in" she said.

" hey I was just wondering are you ready?" I asked.

"Yeah, I am." She replied " we're gonna meet Bonnie there"

"Oh okay"

We then walked downstairs, I grabbed my car keys because I knew that I wasn't going to drink because I don't. Then we reached my car and drove off.
