Chapter 3: The Transformation

An hour passes and Carter managed to make it home to his apartment, he puts the empty syringe onto his bedside table and he collapsed onto his bed. Carter whilst injured was happy that Marie and the Beastman refugee managed to escape to Anima City. Carter thought about calling Marie Itami to see if she was alright and that she and the refugee made it to Anima City in one piece. He pulls out his phone only to see that it is cracked and broken, he sighs and puts his broken phone on his bedside table and before he falls asleep whispers "I'll check in on her tomorrow".

The next morning Carter Ryan's alarm goes off, the time is 8:30am. Carter wakes up and is surprised that he no longer feels in pain, he gets out of bed and he goes to the bathroom to wash his face after the long and exhausting night he had. Carter turns on the water and he washes his face, he turns of the water and grabs a towel and rubs his face to dry off. He pulls the towel off of his face and looks at the mirror and what he sees next shocks him.

Carter Ryan: Wha-what?! What the fuck?! this cannot be real, this cannot be happening!

Utterly shocked to what he sees before him in the mirror is a Beastman, not just any Beastman but a Black Wolf Beastman. Transfixed at the mirror observing himself he jumps when all of a sudden when the house phone rings. Carter rushes to the phone and picks it up.

Carter Ryan: Hello?

Marie Itami: Carter is that you? It's Marie.

Carter Ryan: Oh my god Marie it's so good to hear from you, are you alright? did you make it to Anima City alright?

Marie Itami: Yes I'm alright, I called to see if you were alright. We sorta left you stranded there all by yourself to fend for yourself, listen I called as well to thank you for saving  my life back there. The next Beastman you want out of the mainland will be free of charge on the house.

Carter Ryan: Well Marie I got the ever living shit beat out of me.

Marie Itami: Oh my  are you hurt?

Carter Ryan: Well I was at first when I came home. I fell asleep and this morning I woke up and I was no longer in pain.

Marie Itami: Wow that's odd, but glad to know that you're okay.

Carter Ryan: Marie I'm far from okay! Sorry that I yelled, I cannot explain to you about my situation over the phone it will have to be in person but Marie...when is the earliest that you can head to the docks?

Marie: Itami: Well that depends I have a busy schedule is it important?

Carter Ryan: Yes Marie it is very important that you get to the docks at the latest I need a r-... I have a Beastman that urgently needs a ride to Anima City.  

Marie Itami: Okay I will meet you at the docks in an hour.

Carter Ryan says good bye and hands up the phone. He sits on his bed shocked as to what has happened to him and he stares and looks over himself. He was lost in his thoughts as to how this had happened to him. Then it hits him...the syringe. He gets dressed in his all black outfit and grabs anything he can clothing, equipment personal documents, his phone (although broken) and the syringe. Carter realized that he couldn't head out the way he was as he would be attacked, he needed a disguise. He grabbed a blanket that was on his bed and made it into a cloak to hide his head and tail, once he was disguised he headed out. 

An hour passed and somehow Carter made it to the docks without being caught by anyone, he still couldn't believe what had happened and he was internally screaming, he was scared. of course he was scared it would be the normal reaction of anyone that was in his position. He sees Marie Itami's boat and sprints for it, sprinting so fast that his cloak can off revealing his Black wolf form. Marie Itami was on her phone when she looked up to sea a Black wolf Beastman sprinting towards her boat. she was in her human form and she was surprised not to see Carter Ryan not anywhere to be seen only the Beast man was running to the boat not knowing that the Beastman was Carter. Carter Ryan jumps onto the boat huffing and puffing obviously out of breath from making a run for the boat.

Marie Itami: Whoa dude what are you doing in your wolf form out in the human world you will get caught and where is Carter?

Carter Ryan: Marie...it's me Carter.

Marie Itami: What on earth happened to you and why are you hot!

Carter Ryan: Why am I what again?

Marie Itami: It's nothing I sad nothing forget about but seriously what happened!

Marie started the boat and headed out onto the ocean whilst Carter explained the story of what happend to him and how see suspects that whatever was in the syringe that was injected into him was the cause. Marie was shocked at trying to comprehend what had happened  to Carter  but continued to listen to Carter finishing his story.

Carter Ryan: And I have no other explanation as to how I became a Beastman other than this syringe and whatever was in this thing. Marie I had to get out of there it would be to dangerous for for me  thank you for coming to pick me up.

Marie Itami: No problem, ha your situation reminds me of a bit of my friend Michiru Kagemori, who was a human like you that got turned into a Beastman.

Carter Ryan: Wait there are others like me?

Marie Itami: As far as I know it's just you and her, she's been living at the Beastman Life Association building for the past few months I will take you there if anyone has answers for you it would be Michiru and Shiro.

Carter Ryan: Who's Shiro?

Marie Itami: Oh right Shiro Ogami is a social worker. He works for the Mayor and the Beastman Life Association, he has been looking after Michiru for the past two months helping her with her case. And in my opinion she's in love with him. not surprising after what happened between those two with that  Slyvasta incident a few weeks back.

Carter Ryan: Oh that incident with that rich prick who tried to destroy Anima City?

Marie Itami: Yep that's the one...By the way we are here welcome to Anima City.
