"It is really painful when you cannot do anything about the situation but cry."

Sharleen blinked continuously while lying on the bed with a severe headache. No, she did not have a hangover nor had she drank the previous night.

It was now 7am on Saturday and she hadn't slept a dime! All thanks to her best friend who thought it was a fucking good idea to stake a claim on her man.

Devlin is not your man! Remember Kevin? Your soon to be husband? Yeah, that's your man. The rational part of her mind reminded her.

It started with pacing around her room the previous night, to sitting on her bedroom chair, to sitting on her bed and finally lying on it sleeplessly.

All because Nicole interested in Devlin and she had invited him over, to add salt to the wound, Nicole did not want her, Sharleen, there.

These were the thoughts that were almost making her mind explode. A part of her was guilty that she was thinking of another man instead of her fiancee but the other part was not guilty, in fact the other part wanted to be with Devlin. Thinking about Devlin sometimes felt so... right.

Lying on the bed while begging for sleep that was probably not giving a flying fuck seemed stupid. Screw this. Sharleen gathered herself from the bed and dragged her numb feet downstairs.

She sighed in relief when she found that her parents were not downstairs yet. She loved them but not their 'are you okay' questions when they guessed something was wrong.

I mean who asks 'are you okay' when they already know something is wrong?

Sharleen went to the kitchen and fumbled about, trying to find what she could cook for breakfast. If she was going to wallow in self pity then she better not do it on an empty stomach, right?

She quickly started making scrambled eggs since it was simple and quick to make and God knows she wasn't in the moods of showing her cooking skills at that moment.

Letting the food cook properly, Sharleen sat on the kitchen stool, letting her mind drift away.

Today they were supposed to go shopping for her wedding, Nicole, Ms. Jennifer and herself. They had agreed the day before but Nicole being her usual self had probably forgotten about that.

Instead she is inviting someone she barely knows to her house. Sharleen scoffed.

Sharleen knew she had to call Ms. Jennifer and cancel their shopping to probably tomorrow. She was sure even if they went the two of them, Ms. Jennifer and herself, she won't be able to concentrate. Her mind could not settle for a few minutes without thinking of someone.

"Sharleen! What are you doing?" Her mother's angry voice brought her back from the thinking almost making her jump out of her skin.

Oh oooh... I smell trouble. Her mother is never angry, like ever... well, unless you are planning to burn the house that is.

"Morning mum, i am making breakfast for us today. Come sit down." Sharleen cheerfully said, trying to erase her mother's anger. "I am making scrambled eggs and... Wait, where are the eggs?" Sharleen asked loudly looking at the stove that was now empty and had been switched off and then back to her mother that was now glaring daggers at her. If looks could kill...

"In the dustbin." Her mother answered still glaring at her.

"What! Why the dustbin? I thought you loved scrambled eggs! Why didn't you just leave it for me then, i was hungry! I cooked that!" Sharleen rambled, clearly not happy how her day was starting. This is not how i planned to start my day after a sleepless night, she scoffed internally.
