"In short, I will part with anything for you but you."

The front door to Matthew's house was banged loudly. The banging continued with every minute, the latter louder than the last.

Matthew cursed loudly and quickly went to open the door lest the person break down his expensive wooden oak door.

Opening the door, Matthew was ready to give the culprit his peace of mind but the words stuck on his throat once he registered what his eyes were seeing.

There in front of him stood his son, Sam. His arrogant demeanor completely non existent and in place was a very worried looking excuse of a man. Matthew did not also miss the quick backward glances that his son made every second.

"What do you want?" Matthew asked his son, not at all in the mood of ushering him in.

"Can i get in at least?" Sam begged, something that was alien when it came to Sam.

Matthew looked at his son keenly. Sam looked tired and stressed out greatly. His eyes were full of fear and his cloths could almost be called tatters.

Sam wanted to laugh at his son's face, tell him 'i told you so' and smash the door on his face, but he could not. Blood is thicker than water, so he opened the door wider and let him in.

"You look like shit. What happened to you?" Matthew asked once his son once he was comfortable on the sofa.

"The plan backfired." Sam said angrily.

"One glance at you and i could figure that out. Tell me what i don't know." Matthew scoffed.

"The bastard, Devlin, is still alive." Sam informed his father with gritted teeth.

"I told you to not underestimate him, didn't i?" Matthew asked almost mockingly. "I hope all the mess you made does not lead back to us." He warned.

Sam stayed silent. His head hung low and he just played with his fingers nervously.

"What the hell Sam! Do they have any evidence about us?" Matthew asked while pacing about, clearly stressed.

"The military took over the case. Those people are snooping over everything and anything. They are leaving no tables unturned." Sam spat.

"I told you, no scratch that, i WARNED you. But you did not listen to me. You thought you were smarter. Well, who's the 'chicken' now?" Matthew snapped at his son.

"Dad i need an impromptu plan right now. I know i messed up but i did not come here for the lecture." Sam said, pulling his hair angrily.

"You need to- "Matthew started but was stopped abruptly with the sudden banging on his door.

"What is it with people wanting to destroy my door today?" Matthew cursed angrily.

Without even thinking about who might be at the door, Matthew angrily went and opened the door leaving his son still sitting on the living room.

"Who the hell are you?" Matthew asked just after he opened the door.

Three people, looking as serious as ever looked back at him. The men were dressed casually but neat. Their demeanour screamed danger. Matthew's once angry face changed to curiosity and slight worry.

"We are here for your son, Mr. Matthew." The man in the middle said simply but with a voice thick with authority.

"And who are you guys?" Matthew asked arrogantly while in his heart he was praying for them not to be who he was thinking they are.
