Wow.

Kira's eyes looked over the crystal chandeliers with admiration.

With her arm linked tightly to Giovanni's, he guided them further into the gala full of more people that was considered snobby with a lot of money.

As much as he dreaded this night, he had to come to show his support. He was a big influencer and not just with women. Giovanni was skilled and he made decisions that had benefits for the company.

"It's beautiful." She smiled.

"Yes, it is." He murmured.

Kira looked over to take in his expression all to find him staring at her. Quickly, she glanced away in hopes to find a distraction. That familiar warmth formed inside her belly making her shift her body.

Ever since that near-kiss happened between them a week ago, Kira's been keeping her distance for as long as she could. But she had to do her part and that was to play the supportive wife. Giovanni on the other hand was acting differently. It was as if he seemed to like her. A bit more than he should.

"Kira, Giovanni." Sasha greeted excitedly while making her way to them.

They looked away from each other and smiled over at Sasha.

"Sasha." Giovanni nods.

"Hi, Sasha."

"It seems like this is going to be a long night. Everyone is still waiting on the host to make his speech."

"Really?" Giovanni frowns. "Where is Robert?"

Sasha shrugs. "I don't know but he was supposed to be here an hour ago."

He nods before looking down at Kira. "I'm going to go find out what's going on. Do you still want to stay by me or...?"

Just before she could respond, Sasha interrupts.

"She can come with me to the bar. I would like to have a chat with my new sister."

Sasha linked arms with Kira. After giving him a reassuring look, Kira walked with Sasha in the direction of the bar while Giovanni walked the opposite way. Getting settled in a high chair, they ordered drinks.

"So, how are things going between you and Gio? I didn't hear much from you guys after you returned from the honeymoon."

"Things are fine between us. We're happy."

Sasha smiled. "I believe that you are special, Kira. My brother needs that kind of special in his life. Especially after what happened months ago. Leah broke his heart."

"I never got in-depth with my question about his past. It's embarrassing that I got all my answers on the internet." Kira closed her eyes tightly at the realization of what she just said. "And I can't believe I told you that."

Sasha gave a hearty chuckle. "No need to be. My brother is known to keep things to himself. I would love to give you everything I know but I also know that it's not my place to tell you. Maybe I can talk to him and persuade him to-"

"No," Kira interrupts while shaking her head. "I'll respect him. I don't want to be a bother."

Their drink orders came and Sasha paid for them after going back and forth with Kira about the gesture. As time continued forward, someone came and grabbed Sasha for an emergency which left Kira at the bar all alone.
