Veronica arrived at Thomson Enterprises and made her way directly to the reception desk.

"Hello, my name is Veronica Ray, and I am Mr. Arek Alden's secretary. I'm here to pick up some paperwork that Ms. Pearl should have left for me," she introduced herself to the receptionist, whose nameplate read Tris Woods.

"Hello, Ms. Ray. Yes, Pearl did leave a small package for you. Let me find it for you," Tris replied with a warm smile.

"Thank you so much, Ms. Woods," Veronica responded gratefully.

"You're welcome," Tris said as she began searching for the package.

After a few moments, Tris handed the package to Veronica.

"Here you go, Ms. Ray," she said, handing over the bundle.

"Thanks," Veronica replied with a smile and quickly left for Alden Mansion.

She hailed a cab and gave the driver the address. As the cab drove, Veronica's anxiety grew with each passing moment. Her palms grew clammy, and her mind raced with the implications of what she was about to do. Arek had been adamant about not being disturbed over the weekend, and she knew he would be furious. However, she was determined to ensure that the hard work of everyone involved in the project did not go to waste because of a simple signature.

Lost in her thoughts, Veronica barely noticed when the cab came to a stop at the large black gates.

"Miss, we're here," the driver announced.

Veronica emerged from her reverie and saw the imposing gates. She paid the driver and stepped out of the cab, approaching the security checkpoint.

"Excuse me, who are you?" one of the security guards asked.

"My name is Veronica Ray, and I am Mr. Alden's secretary," Veronica said, presenting her office ID.

The security guard examined the card and then returned it to her.

"I'm sorry, Miss, but you're not allowed inside," the guard said firmly.

"I understand, but this is very important. I need Mr. Alden's signature on these documents, or we risk losing a crucial business deal. It's imperative that I get these signed today," Veronica pleaded.

"I'm sorry, Miss, but we can only admit family members. No one else is permitted inside," the guard replied.

"Please, understand that a lot of people have put in tremendous effort to secure this deal. If we don't finalize this today, all that work will be for nothing. If you can't let me in, could you at least pass my message to Mr. Alden? I'll stay outside, and he can come out to sign the documents. That way, no rules are broken, and everyone is satisfied," Veronica proposed.

"Alright, you're very persistent. I'll check with Mr. Alden and see if he'll make an exception. If he agrees, I'll bring the papers to him," the security guard said reluctantly.

Just then, a voice called out from a distance. "What's going on here, Josh?"

"Mr. Sanders, Ms. Alden's secretary is here to collect signatures for some paperwork," Josh the security guard explained.

"Let her in," Mr. Sanders said decisively.

"But Mr. Sanders, you know Mr. Alden doesn't like work being brought here," Josh protested.

"It's alright. I'll speak with him. Let her in," Mr. Sanders instructed.

With that, the security guards conducted the necessary checks and allowed Veronica inside. Mr. Sanders, whose first name was Sean, guided her through the estate.
