"Veronica, where the hell are you?" Navi shouted from the hallway.

"Just a minute, I'm coming!" Veronica called back.

"What do you mean, 'just a minute'? You know today's the first day of our internship, right? Thanks to you, we're going to be late!" Navi's voice was laced with frustration.

"Chill out! I'm almost ready. Just come in here and help me," Veronica replied.

Navi entered Veronica's room, only to find it in complete disarray. Clothes were strewn across the bed, the floor, and practically every surface.

"What the hell happened here? And you call this being ready?" Navi asked, gesturing at the chaotic mess.

"I can't find anything suitable to wear," Veronica lamented, looking helplessly at the mountain of clothes.

"It's not like you're meeting the CEO for a date. Just wear something professional. You have plenty of options," Navi said, pointing to the pile of discarded outfits.

Veronica shot her a glare.

"What? Don't look at me like that. It's like a cyclone hit your room," Navi remarked, half amused, half exasperated.

"Just shut up and pick something for me to wear," Veronica demanded.

Navi rifled through the clothes and pulled out a simple but elegant outfit: black formal trousers, a crisp white shirt, and black pumps.

"Here, this will do," she said, handing the ensemble to Veronica.

Veronica quickly changed and began combing her hair.

"Come over here; let me do your makeup," Navi offered.

Veronica gave her a skeptical look. "No, thanks. You know I don't do makeup."

"Come on, today's special. Think of it this way: if you look good, maybe the CEO won't make your life a living hell," Navi teased.

"You seriously think I'd put on makeup just to impress that jerk? What do you think I am?" Veronica retorted, clearly disgusted.

"There you go again," Navi said, laughing softly.

"Whatever. I'm ready. Let's go," Veronica said, heading for the door.

The two friends made their way downstairs, where Mrs. Ray was waiting.

"My baby's all grown up. Work hard, okay?" Mrs. Ray said, her voice tinged with emotion as she gently patted Veronica's hair.

"Honey, careful, you'll ruin her hairstyle," Mr. Ray joked, earning a sharp look from his wife.

"Okay, bye, Mom. Bye, Dad. See you tonight!" Veronica called, hurrying out the door.

"Goodbye! Work hard, both of you!" Mr. and Mrs. Ray said in unison.

Once outside, the girls hopped into Navi's car. As Navi started driving, she said, "Seriously, Veronica, you need to learn how to drive."

"Why would I, when I have you as my chauffeur?" Veronica replied with a grin.

"Very funny. You can't even ride a bicycle, Ver," Navi pointed out, rolling her eyes.

"Are we five? Why are we even arguing about this?" Veronica said, trying to change the subject.

"No, don't change the topic. Why didn't Mr. and Mrs. Ray teach you how to drive? It's weird," Navi insisted.

"Maybe you're the weird one," Veronica shot back, smirking.

Navi just glared but chose not to respond.
