it was already the next morning.

"it's either one of us, jae."
"yeah now i know that."
it had now become a thing for jae to respond to the man in the mirror. he spoke to him whenever he showed up and longed for him whenever he didn't.
"do you have a name?"
"you can give me one."
jae paused to think for a bit. "you're what i love to see in the mirror whenever i look at it. the better version of myself i guess... mmm let's go with eaj."
"not bad."
"would you come if i call for you?"
"it depends."
"it depends? i hate it when you're gone. that should be a good enough reason."
"it is."
"then never leave me."
"i don't decide that, you do."
"come on."
"i'm slowly fading out, jae."
jae wanted to respond but his phone began to vibrate. he looked at his activity watch and saw that she was calling.
"don't leave." he pleaded with eaj before picking up his phone to answer it.
"hi."
"do you know what time it is?!" she yelled at the top of her voice.
oh shoot. he totally forgot.
"i'm sorry. i'll head out right now."
he looked in the mirror and it was just his haggard-looking self this time.
"i told you not to leave me..."
