"oh it's killing me how fear is holding me down
but i wanna hold you"

"hi."
jae wasn't expecting to see eaj staring back at him this time when he sat in front of the mirror for the hundredth time that day.
he had sat, stood up, walked away, walked back, sat again and did it over and over again in hopes of eaj's return.
he could barely hold back the excitement. "you're here!"
"but i have a feeling it won't be for long."
"why not?"
"because you haven't decided."
jae had purposely kept the content of the message a secret from eaj in fear that it'll push him away. apparently, that was useless. "do i really have to?" he asked instead of avoiding the conversation.
"you don't but you're going to because you think you need to."
"help me." jae broke down in tears. he wanted to be completely vulnerable. "i-i can't do this anymore. it's killing me."
"let her go, jae."
"i also can't do that."
"you're going to hurt yourself to the point that it'll be irreversible."
"even though i choose her, can't you stay with me?" jae made eye contact with eaj. his eyes were like those of a helpless child crying out to be saved. "please, hmm? i need both of you."
"no you just need her money."
jae began to scream frantically. eaj had touched the vital spot with his words.
"snap out of it, jae!"
"you don't know anything about me." jae's eyes were filled with anger now.
"i know that you're an insecure, selfish jerk. a gold-digger willing to let go of himself for what someone else would give him."
jae closed his ears and shrieked, moving away from the mirror. "i don't want to hear you anymore."
"so you choose her?"
"i'm over this.. over you. leave me alone." jae managed to reach for his phone.
"if you call her, that's it jae."
he was acting out of control. he speed-dialed her number and listened to it ring.
"answer it, damnit!" he tried again.
"jae you're saying goodbye to the wrong person." eaj tried to talk some sense into him but he wouldn't budge.

jae took the closest object to him.
he threw it at the mirror, smashing it to pieces and cracks.
it was meant to make him feel better but he felt worse.
aarrgh. he tugged on his hair and wanted to rip it off his head.

she answered the call. "hey, what's up?"
he panicked and ended it. what did he just do...
