"oh i might burn to the ground but see me burn with a smile"

a month had gone by already.

jae took  her out on a date. he really just wanted to escape being in his room for too long. one glance at his broken mirror made him feel guilty.
he didn't clean up the pieces either.
he had also put his guitar into its bag and placed it at the top of his closet shelf.

where did eaj actually go off to?
jae thought back all the way to the beginning and realized he had started seeing eaj only after getting into this torturous relationship.
was eaj just watching him mess up his life?
he wondered every single morning when he opened his eyes.

they were 30 minutes into their date walk when they arrived at a busking spot.
it felt as if jae's feet were glued to the ground. he had deprived himself of music for so long. he couldn't move no matter how much she tried to drag him away.
he found himself moving to the front of the crowd.
he went up to the musicians and asked if he could sing just one song while playing the guitar.
it was such an absurd thing to do but jae wasn't in his right mind.
eaj would be so proud of him right now. he thought as he took the instrument from one of them.

he said he was dedicating the song to someone he had pushed out of his life and regretted doing so.
he started playing and the crowd swayed and clapped. next thing, he was interrupted by his girlfriend who literally snatched the guitar away and pulled him off the 'stage.'
no one understood what was going on.
"why did you do that?" jae's heart was breaking. he couldn't fathom how he willingly stayed with someone like her. she was killing his spirit and wasn't even bothered.
"you shouldn't have left me standing there alone."
"i was doing what i love."
"you chose me, jae. you can't go back on your words."
he did choose her and that was the biggest mistake he made.
"i'm sorry."
those were the only words he could come up with but it wasn't meant for her. he was apologizing to himself and to eaj.
