pacman [DAY6 JAE]

"play me over and over
pacman and lover
hoping you run out of quarters soon"

"you can leave if you're just going to scold me." jae dropped his head and played with his fingers. he didn't want to look up at the mirror until eaj was willing to comfort him and tell him the things he wanted to hear.
"you also can't deny that you love music so much."
"this isn't helping me." he looked up and glared at eaj.
"she's tormenting you, why're you still with her?"
"i love her, don't say that."
as soon as he said that, eaj left.
oh no.
he waited for a while but then he got tired of  just staring at himself in the mirror.
it looked as if he was deteriorating. literally.
his eyes skipped over to his guitar. he leaned forward and picked it up.
it had been so long since he even touched it.
he pulled a couple of strings and calmed his soul with the soothing melody.
"you love it. you're torturing yourself when you act like you don't."
"you're back!" jae exclaimed excitedly. "my fingers feel stiff don't mind the sound." he chuckled nervously and scratched the side of his head before playing for a bit longer.
"don't you see a pattern, jae?"
"how you always leave me without permission when i need you the most?" jae retorted at eaj who had returned.
"i don't leave on purpose, you push me away when you try to overshadow your genuine feelings with what she wants you to feel."
jae sighed instead of responding. everything was getting too complicated for him to understand.
or rather, he was just avoiding the truth.
"it's getting worse and i can't be with you unless you consciously call for me."
"what does that even mean?" jae put away the guitar and stared at eaj.
"she's playing mind games on you and you're acting too dumb because she's rich."
"no. i love her."

jae's phone pinged and he received a message from her:
"i didn't want to bring this up but now you really have to choose. it's music or me."
