NOTE: THIS IS NOT THE FINALE OF THIS BOOK.

I still have plans of writing more oneshots. If anything, I'd end this book at their wedding or something.

Red Sole gazed at the large glass case, filled with all sorts of diamond rings. Some were simple, with the diamond being the main accessory. Others had bands decorated with sapphires and rubies, and were very fancy - while also very expensive. Still, she didn't exactly feel stressed about money. She had been working hard at her job, and had a secret savings account just for this. Her determination was so strong, she picked up doing turf wars and working Salmon Run shifts like she used to as a teenager. Some of the other inklings would look in astonishment at this thirty-something casually playing these games that she ought to have outgrown. She had, of course, but she needed the money. She was awoken from her cloudy thoughts by a familiar voice behind the counter.

"So, Red Sole! Looking for anything in particular?"

Red Sole looked up, and a large grin crossed her face.

"Double Egg! What are you doing here? It's been ages!" she chirped.

Double Egg had been working at the jewelry shop for a while now. It wasn't his dream job, but the pay was decent. Besides, he had plans of quitting and pursuing a career that he really wanted.

Double Egg's eyes grew wide at Red Sole's comment. "Woah..." he whispered.

"What's wrong?" Red Sole asked.

"It's just... you sounded so... grown up, there."

"That's 'cause I am, silly!"

She certainly had grown up - her hair, while still curly, fell down around her face, swept behind her shoulders, and the zigzag part had been replaced with a straight-line part. Unless she was playing turf war or Salmon Run - both of which required certain attire - she opted for clean t-shirts and a pair of pants - at this moment she wore a dark purple shirt and a pair of black pants. Even her high-pitched voice had somewhat deepened. Of course, she wasn't the only one who grew up - everyone had, in their own way. She was, however, one of the inklings everyone expected to grow up last, if at all. Red Sole had unintentionally surprised everyone by being one of the first, and people still weren't exactly used to it.

"Yeah, but... y'know what? It doesn't matter. So what are you looking for?"

Red Sole's face grew red and she looked down, her feet turning inward.

"...An engagement ring. For Omega," she whispered, loud enough for Double Egg to hear.

"Oh! Two of you decided to tie the knot, eh?" he asked.

"Y-yeah. Well, I mean, we've both got stable jobs... we're in our thirties... we're still in love... why not, right?" Red Sole explained.

"Sure thing, sure thing. Hm... well, what are you thinking? You know her better than I do."

Red Sole paused and looked again at the rings. Her eyes kept wandering back to a simple ring - a nice, pretty diamond and band, without too much fanciness. It seemed like it was made for Omega. The price was reasonable, too.

"That one? Yeah, that's a good one. Even I think it'd suit her," Double Egg commented.

"Mhm... OK! That's the one!" Red Sole decided.

Double Egg nodded and took out the ring before putting it into a navy-blue box. He rang it up and Red Sole paid. Her hands trembled as she took the ring, and it looked like she was on the verge of tears.
