Broken Centrals

Multiple punches and swear words could be heard from the corridor of the barracks; Germany was throwing one of his typical tantrums, but this one sounded somewhat different...more than an annoyance of any day at war, he sounded really furious and frustrated, nobody was going to dare to speak to him in a long time; after all, it was known that trying to calm Germany down when angry would bring more negative than positive effects.

Germany: No, no, no, NO, NO! WHY CAN NOBODY DO ANYTHING WELL?! EVERYTHING WAS GOING ACCORDING TO THE PLAN, VICTORY WAS SUPPOSED TO BE OURS! Incompetents...I AM SURROUNDED BY A GROUP OF INCOMPETENTS!—He slammed his fist against the table, making a pile of papers fly, mainly reports about failed operations—My father always told me, you can't trust anyone, teamwork is a waste of time, I'M TIRED OF THIS!—He relaxed a little and placed his hands on his face, leaning on the table he had hit previously—They are all useless...

Suddenly, his thoughts were interrupted by a knock on his door. He sighed, he had completely forgotten that his frustration came from his meeting with the Ottoman Empire at the time, and he had no choice but to calm down and use his diplomatic facade...even if he had admitted that his "friends" were little more than a group of incompetents, he also knew they could still be of some use to him in the remainder of the conflict. After calming down a bit, he prepared the two seats in place and opened the door.

Germany: Did you hear everything?

Ottoman: I only heard what you did to the poor table, don't worry

Germany: —He let out a sigh of relief—It's okay, the table is fine...go ahead, the place is ready

Ottoman: Ready?—He looked around the place, which was full of papers and marks of physical aggression—Your concept of "ready" is very interesting

Germany: Sorry for the mess...I forgot about your visit for a moment, but that doesn't matter. I think you know why I called you here

Ottoman: Because I was the only one who was unable to fulfill his part of the plan and thanks to that we are only enjoying a temporary victory

Germany: Exactly, thanks to this little...inconvenience, I had to delay my part of the plan...and I'm somewhat disappointed in you

Ottoman: You don't understand it! I had joined you because you had promised me that if I fought alongside you I would be able to complete the feat of avoiding death, but now Britaniya has me surrounded and was able to turn those filthy Arabs against me... I no longer know what to do

Germany: I don't know what to do with you either...I saw in you a good ally...I thought that "the sick man of Europe" was a simple pseudonym born out of the fear they had for you, but I see that they were right, and that your glory days ended centuries ago

Ottoman: Almanya-

Germany: I don't want any more of your explanations...at least you will know this beforehand and you won't have to find out the hard way

Ottoman: What are you-

Germany: Our alliance will continue to be active on paper, but starting today, each one of us is on their own, I will not bother to carry more weight. Do what you want, but get out of here right now

Ottoman: ...well, this war is lost, anyway—he withdrew from the scene—

Germany: —he sighed—Well they say, if you want to do it right, you have do it yourself— he picked up one of the papers he had sent flying earlier and analyzed it for a moment—would you like to celebrate the new year with me, Russland ?

And finally we have reached the crucial year of 1918, nowadays we know it as the year that marked the end of the war, but the past century, the future was still quite uncertain even by that point and it was still anyone's game; they had all seen that the first to break had been Russia, but now they all looked at each other asking who would be next, it was clear that this nation would be one of the centrals...But which one of the four?
