   Adria Grant was known for her fair share of fights. She may not always throw the first punch, but she tries her hardest to throw the last. To say Adria was a violent person would be wrong, she was protective of herself and the people she loved, which sometimes caused physical altercations.
  Her fiesty spirit came from her mother. Born to Indonesian parents in Britain, to say the pressure for Annisa Grant to succeed in life was great would be an understatement. Instead of becoming a doctor or lawyer like her parents wanted, she chose to study history. She had travelled all around the world studying different historical places and landmarks, but settled in North Carolina to be a professor at University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill when her daughter was born. She had fought tooth and nail to be seen as a success in her field, and Adria always admired that.
  With her intense personality came walls Adria built around herself. Despite being 16, she had never had a serious relationship. People had expressed their interest, sure, but Adria would bail before anything got too serious. She accepted that she would be a strong, independent woman like her mother was, never needing a male companion in her life. But then, her mind wandered back to a certain blonde surfer boy in the Outer Banks, the place she called home every summer.
  When Adria is thrown up into the mess of the Pogues during her yearly pilgrimage to the Outer Banks, her feelings for JJ aren't the only things that are swept up. Secrets, affairs, corrupt cops, and long-standing rivalries turn her world upside down. Is $400 million dollars worth seeing the life Adria knew disappear around her?
