Chapter 2

Miles

" here you go miles " .mrs Kendrick offering me a steaming cup of coffee ,which indeed I really needed .

"Thanks "

" you are sooo nice ,for helping me out with my cabinet ,I thought it will send me to the ER like marlyn's mum " .I raised my eyes to her not understanding her well I saw her shiver I couldn't help but ask what happened to marlyn's mum .

" o my dear ,she was involved in an accident ,on her way back from the diner she was hit by a truck and the driver was drunk and she drove into a ditch ,some people saw it and saved her on time ,poor Marlyn had to fly all through the night to be with her mum .
I just hope all will go right " .saying the last part almost to herself

             I was soo shocked ,Marlyn was in crest falls ?last I heard she was in California working in a really big bakery that won the sweet spoon competition four times in a row which  was a big deal . He couldn't imagine what happened to Marlyn his Marlyn.

              Miles made a mental note to stop at the hospital mrs Kendrick said Marlyn's mum was admitted in. If only he was meeting Marlyn in a more better condition. Easing his truck into the hospital's parking lot, he toke the elevator to the hospital's reception. He met a nurse typing into a computer. " excuse me miss".

   She glanced up with a look that says how can I help you

    " Emmm I would like to know if there is any mrs darlyn Reyes here"

     " yea , hold on "

     She types on the computer then glances up she directs me to the room , it was the third room by the left down the hallway .

    Opening the door I saw darlyn she looked bad with the scares around her body. She was also on oxygen the only noise in the room was the mechines . He cringed when he heard Marlyn sob that was the second time he ever heard Marlyn cry , he didn't want to remember the first time he heard Marlyn cry he walked quietly so his foot steps won't be heard , he gently placed his hand on Marlyn 's back, she rose quickly wrapping her arms around him and cried uncontrollably he wrapped his arms around her making soothing gestures when he eased her a little to clean her tears she snapped like she was just realizing who he was .

    She moved back until she reached the side of her mums bed she looked down at her feet looking back up almost immediately she looked  at him ,he definitely saw something in her eyes if he wasn't watching her closely he would have missed it she had put on her shield making her look unreadable.

    " um , miles what are you doing here?".

     " hi Marlyn " flashing her one of his unapologetic grin .

   "I asked you a question miles "she said my name with a clenched teeth almost hissing

He never knew why she is angry with him he should be the one angry with her .she was the one who left without saying goodbye .

    "I heard what happened to your mum from mrs Kendrick and I decided to show up and check on you and your mum also " .

"As u can see we are fine " .
    
       "If I heard that the last month I would have believed it  seeing the condition you are in am not falling for that Marlyn ".

    " Miles am good now just delete what happened two minutes ago from your memory ."

  " nah Marlyn not possible "

  "Where is aunt keasha ?" I asked Marlyn

"She went home to get a change of clothes and rest she was here all through the night she not young , you know?" The last statement was a rhetorical question .

   "Marlyn , why don't you go home and rest I will stay here with your mum and help her ,and I promise to call you if anything comes up , you need to rest or else you will be lying next to your mum on that bed" . I was right and she knew it she had dark circles under her eyes her breathing was hitched and she looked like she will drop any second.

" promise you will call me once any slight thing happens ?" .

  "I promise "

  " ok, miles I will be going now I will be here first thing in the morning, and here is my number please do call me if the doctor asks for anything "

I came forward I couldn't resist touching her .

"I will just go home now before the nurses get here and start checking your vitals cause if they do you will surely be lying down there ".I said pointing to the bed opposite

She smiled and that definitely made my day 

" get going marl, see you in the morning please do come only when you feel good enough "

She grabbed her jacket and her purse she made a gesture telling me to call her I nudged her a little to get her moving .

Soooo sorry for the typos in the first chapter  and the delay on the update of second chapter . I will try to write faster and update the third faster ,already working on it .
