Chapter 3

Three weeks later

Marlyn
Seeing my mom sitting up and smiling made me so so happy ,I believe am the happiest person in the whole world . I couldn't help but look at the man who used just three weeks to steal my heart AGAIN . He was soo helpful throughout the whole incident seeing my mom laughing and joking like someone who was not in an accident made me happy .

I looked at miles again he was smiling at something aunt keasha said he is about 6'feet 4 .He leaned on the wall with his left foot on the wall and his hands crossed . His hair chestnut brown and slightly tousled ,cause he kept running his hands through it ,he was freshly shaved .he had smiling eyes that tingles any time he smiles or his up to a mischief ,his eyes where bluish green a bit dense ,if  you ask me .he was standing opposite me and I knew he noticed I was checking him out, if I wasn't brown I would have been blushing like a teenager who saw her crush .I looked down to divert his attention ,i felt like he could see through my soul if we made eye contact .
    
       He always commands attention whether he wants it or not I noticed the nurses flocking around whenever he was around.one even offered him to a drink after her shift but he refused I still didn't know what he told her cause she came in later glaring and throwing darts with her eyes at me .

I am just soo grateful my mum is okay she was feeding well ,her injuries where healing, the doctor even promised to discharge her if she keeps improving before the weekend .

       The elderly nurse walked in to check darlyn's vitals smiled to after the check ,signifying that she was okay , I breathed a sign of relief not realizing that I was holding my breath. I saw miles giving me a reassuring smile, he told me that after her morning check up I could go and sort out my stuffs, Brie sent them and they came two weeks ago I just stored them in the basement of my mums house I didn't unpack them, I stood to leave I walked over to give my mum a kiss and and hugged aunt keasha and mrs Kendrick I waved at miles .

   Stepping out into parking lot I unlocked my car it was a white suv , it wasn't what I drove in Cali but it was okay my  mums car what as good as scrap I drove waving at some people I knew and those who knew me it was a small town and news travel faster than sound here, I pulled up at the diner to check on Madison, madison has been helping my mum since she opened this place 16 years ago . I checked if she needed anything, which was no ,business was booming and at the payment  side I saw a jar there It had "be a darling for darlyn " it made me teary  I waved at Madison and left the diner our home was just 5 minutes drive from the diner and 7 minutes walk . I pulled up at our driveway. For the first time since I came back I noticed the house looked unkempt I made a mental note to clean up , mum hates dust .

      After eight hours of intense cleaning and dusting ,the house looks spotless, I gave myself a pat on the back for a job well done . I entered into my room I cleaned it also , put my stuff properly, looking into my wardrobe I selected my denim trousers with a matching jacket and a whit shirt to go with it . I picked my new sandals I bought last month it had a little heel which made my legs look longer . Miles is going to be blown away he has always loved my curly hairs. I remembered when we came to this town , a white woman with a brown girl , people gossiped saying I was a result of rape ,meekness miles sister and my class mate , made rumors about my mum being a rape victim and me a bastard I hated that . I remembered coming home crying and asking my mum if she was really raped . My mom wept telling me the story of how she fell in love with an African man who died after two years of their marriage she moved to stay with her grandmother since her parents never supported the union , unfortunately my great grandma died after five years but willed all her properties to my mum which she used to by the diner due to to an advice from her childhood friend which is aunt keasha . From then on i never let what people say about me matter , yes I am brown, yes my mother is white with blonde hair and aquatic blue eyes , and yes I have big curly hair with aquatic blue eyes like my moms and a very curvy body.

      I ran into the shower, dressed up immediately , put on light makeup, took my purse rushed to the the kitchen to take the cinnamon rolls and coffee I made for miles and aunt keasha, miles has always loved cinnamon rolls and coffee , I also packed some freshly squeezed orange juice for mum she loves it . I was just soo excited today , it's probably because my mom is doing great, scares are healing pretty quickly.

   I eased my car into the parking lot of the hospital ,took the elevator to the ward I greeted the nurse at the station, I knocked once then entered the room , my jaw dropped my mum was on her two feet and miles was clapping I didn't understand what was going on right now, I left for just ten hours, can miracle's happen in hours? Well the answer was definitely yes .

   " Marlyn " my mom noticed my presence and immediately envelopes me in a very warm embrace I noticed some tingling in my eyes , no I can't cry all is well now, she is better , she eased a little to look at me . " mom , what happened? How come ? When I left you said your legs hurt ,and that ..."
  "Calm down Marlyn, it all thanks to miles we made a little bet after he massaged my legs . And Marlyn you know I hate losing bets "
  " yes but"
  " no buts Marlyn I am fine,the orthopedic doctor did a check and said I am fine .i am so lucky to use my legs again I am over joyed right now "

   " well I brought cinnamon rolls to celebrate "

   " wow Marlyn how did you know I was craving for that " miles said .

  " I guessed , so what was the bet about mum"

  " well if miles had win then I will would have to bake him cinnamon rolls for two weeks whether I am in the hospital or not "

"And" I promted

" and if I win , you will have to go on ..... drum rolls please "

" mooom please " I persisted 

" you will have to go on three dates with miles "

  "WHAT!!!!!!" My mouth was agape but I didn't care . No way ,this can't happen I mean CAN'T happen

  " mom why make that bet , of all things "

  " well I won so three dates miles that's all you gat "

I looked at miles and he shrugged like it was no big , well it is cause I have a big gigantic crush on you ever since I have known you.
