"Desi!"
Desi sighed and rolled over, carefully moving her wing to avoid sending a cascade of rocks crashing down towards her mother. Of course, that wouldn't be a bad thing, dragons who woke others up with their loud yelling did deserve it.
She blinked and shook her head to get all the dry, clustered dirt off her face, the down side of sleeping in cave.
Her mother's silhouette appeared ahead of her, in the main part of the cave. "Thank goodness your up! I almost released a scorpion on your ledge, I swear".
"Oh no, whatever you do, don't do that" Desi muttered. But honestly, being stabbed by scorpion would be better then hearing her mother talk.
Before she could say anything else, her mother was pushing a small, brown lizard into her talons. She squealed as it squirmed and tried to jump out of her cupped talons.
Mother narrowed her eyes. "I have to go check on...something. You'll be okay in your own for a bit". She paused as she watched Desi scramble to keep the lizard in her reach. "Three moons! It's your breakfast, kill it!".
Desi snorted and stabbed one talon into the lizard's back. Immediately, it stopped moving and fell limp.
Her mother looked pleased and left the cave with a wave of her tail. "I'll be back soon! Maybe do something productive while I'm gone and be a good daughter for once".
Ugh. Where's a scorpion when you need one?
Desi stood up with a sigh and flung the lizard onto the makeshift desk her mother had made on a ledge in the cave wall. She had thrown her papers and scrolls everywhere.
Hmm. And she says I'm messy!
Well I might as start cleaning this up. Or will she get mad at me for touching her stuff?
She shrugged and grabbed the nearest scroll and unrolled it. 'Mission' was written on top with bold letters.
Another mission?! But we just got done with- NO! DESI, DO NOT THINK ABOUT THAT SKYWING! No, no, bad! Get her out of your head! Hmm, your not supposed to think about her...
She looked back down at the writing on the scroll. Okay, focus! No more thinking of pretty SkyWings who are really good at fighting...Three moons! What's wrong with me?!
She traced her talon across the scroll and begun to read the next sentence.
Rainforest/Night Kingdom. Silentseer's possible offspring.
FIND THEM
Desi narrowed her eyes. That was it? No plan? Just finding some random dragonet?
That doesn't sound like mother. She likes plans and weapons and- argh! Why do I know her so well?!
She stuffed the scroll into one of the piles and picked up the next one.
Silentseer
NightWing, male. Possibly had two dragonets, one with SandWing and one with a unknown NightWing some time later. Last seen by scouts over 15 years ago, in The Kingdom Of Sand in the middle of a sandstorm. It is believed he rescued a female SandWing and later abandoned her after she had his egg.
He got to the rainforest and met a unknown female NightWing, and later had a dragonet. Months later, he disappeared. No more known.Find the dragonet and mother
Desi narrowed her eyes. Yesh, that's a lot of information...and for what? A random NightWing's dragonet? Who even is Silentseer? And what does he have to with us?
She just shrugged again slipped the scroll into another pile. Why another mission though? Sometimes being a assassin is so tiring! Why can't we just hide out for a few more days?
She looked out the cave entrance and slowly made her way to her mother's side of the cave. She had make a giant nest out of the dry desert grass. Across the nest, she had flung her pouch against the wall.
Desi looked over her shoulder again and then reached for pouch. She carefully opened it and poured the contents out into the ground.
She grabbed the nearest thing, a small round ball. A dragonflame cactus. Hm, why does she need that? Maybe she used it during the Sky Kingdom raid?
She threw it back in the bag and reached for the only other thing, a small teared piece of scroll. She carefully unfolded it and held it up to her face to see the small drawing in the corner.
It was of a dragon with a narrow snout, tired eyes and blunt spikes going down his arched neck. A NightWing....
She turned the paper to see the small word written next to the dragon's neck.
Silentseer
Silentseer? Again? Why is he so important?
She scrambled to throw the pouch back as she heard talonsteps outside of the cave. She looked down at her talons and realized she was still clutching the drawing. Before her mother could come in she slipped the drawing under the nest. I hope she doesn't realize I was in her stuff...
Of course, she came in hissing. "Some dragons are just giant camel-butts! I hate everyone, argh!". She took a dramatic sigh and glared at Desi. "Did you do anything useful?".
Desi shrugged. "Your idea of useful is different then mine. But, I did organize your scrolls".
She snorted. "Great, I'm so proud of you!". She stomped past Desi and laid down in her nest, closing her eyes.
Well, she didn't say anything about a new mission. Maybe it's not for a while? Or maybe it's just her? But I still have questions — Who is Silentseer? And why is he so important?
