"I'm pretty sure mixing a horse and an eagle wouldn't get you a pegasus." AK chuckled through my phone, resting on my pillows.
"But it makes sense! You said putting their food in high trees would make them evolve with wings but wouldn't they just become giraffes?" I asked from my perch on my bed.
Lima Bean, who was quickly beginning to feel like a roommate, was laying across the foot of my bed. "Nah they'd become like, long necked horses. Like a giraffe but buffer! Or worse, they start climbing." He looked very self-satisfied with his answer, and I couldn't help but chuckle at him.
AK and I had been talking essentially everyday since Sunday. If we weren't talking face-to-face, we were texting. On Tuesday we played 20 Questions and talked about our favorites: colors, music, artists, kinks, foods, even ideal pets (real or non). It made me warm up to him because he reminded me of my friends in University, passively talking about anything under the sun without worrying about if the other person was judging. There was also no expectations or pressure in our sex talks, we just talked about the act itself.
Elijah came over on Thursday, after AK and I spent all of Wednesday sending memes to each other while we worked. Thursday was particularly entertaining because I witnessed how easily AK turned his "Head Master" switch on and off.
When he talked to me he was easy-going and playful, but when Elijah took the playful teasing too far he gave him the coldest look; and told him to "remember who he was". The look on Lima's face was priceless, but he did behave himself the rest of the day. It made me wonder about the effect AK would have on me if I teased him like Elijah.
"Not to be nosey, cause it's not my date, but don't you two have places to be in like 4 hours?" Elijah asked while looking at the clock.
AK looked beside him, I assume at his own clock, before turning back. "I think the jet's gonna be ready in an hour and it's an hour flight to Paris."
I raised my eyebrow and picked up my phone. "One, what is Paris? Two, how do you know that's where I live?"
Elijah snorted and exploded with laughter at the same time as AK. "You're joking right? One, that's the capital of the country you live in. You're our Continental and you don't know our countries' capitals?!"
I growled at him and huffed. "I can barely remember the countries themselves! The capitals are not important, only humans care about that stuff! I know your club is in Germany, that's worth something!"
AK chuckled again, "Linguistic majors, like my sister, care too. Second, you're forgetting I know your sister. Third, Elijah told me you two live in France; the closest landing spot is Paris."
I glared at Elijah when he said that. "Giving out my info to people?!"
Elijah rolled his eyes and ignored me after saying, "Because speaking French wasn't a major hint. Your address is literally on the Continental registry."
AK smiled, "That too. Which you have to do more of for me, by the way. Speaking French, that is."
I gave him a half-smirk and rubbed the back of my neck. He heard me cursing at my siblings in French the last time we spoke. Jolie and my mother tend to pop up randomly and she happened to bring Beau with them, who enjoys pissing me off for some reason. "Sure, if you like it that much. Can you only speak German?"
He sort of grimaced with a distant look in his eyes, before he sighed and smiled halfheartedly. "No, I know some of almost every common language; enough for me to survive. The ones I speak best are International Sign, my Mother's native tongue, German, Russian, Latin, and English. I know minor French, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese-"
