"Don't give me that bullshit today. You're lucky i'm talking to you." He was already getting on my last nerve and he hadn't even said two sentences. I'd given him the benefit of the doubt, seeing as basically everyone else was bullshitting him. I had to be the bigger person here. "Look, I understand you're upset. And you're confused, but I promise you that we'll be okay." Geez, I really was starting to get that "Mom" tone in my voice.
Alex laughed, and I could hear another persons voice in the background. Was it a girl? Probably not. He's never been the most charming. Whatever the case was, he covered his phone speaker so I couldn't hear what the two of them were talking about. "Hellooooo? Did you hear me?" I heard his hand move from the speaker, as he finished laughing obnoxiously.
"Yeah I don't need you to tell me what I am and what I'm not. I'll Venmo you money or something. Isn't that what you want?" Before I could tell him off he spoke again. "I gotta go though. Call me whenever. Don't be surprised if i don't answer." He hung up. "Fucking deadbeat." Stressing over him wasn't worth it.
I carefully walked downstairs where Niall was neatly folding brightly colored onesies. "Hey! I know it's probably too early to tell- but I figured we should get started early." Little beanies covered with patterns of frogs, and dozens of long-sleeve baby sleepers. "I think it's a little too early to be doing all this hun." he made a face. "Does it matter?"
