Chapter 20

When we walked into the apartment, my nonna was sitting in the living room. She turned around to face us and smiled.

"Nonna? I thought you were out shopping?!" I asked her, deeply confused.

"Oh well I finished my shopping and I'd just thought that I would come round' here for a change!" She told me. "I take it you got my note then??" She continued, asking me this question.

"Yea,nonna listen......I didnt mean for this to happen" I said, pointing at my tummy.

"I know you didnt....love! It's going to be okay!" She told me, rubbing my cheek with her warm, gentle hands. I nodded in total agreement and she smiled back at me. I could see her eyes tearing up and I despise to see people crying in pity of me so i kindly changed the subject.

"So....nonna! Nialls coming home tomorrow!" I told her. Her face lit up like a Christmas tree at that festive time of the year. She looked overwhelmed and delighted.

"Oh! That's great news!.........but.....why is he coming home so early?" She asked me, remembering.

"They told him that he should go home. I guess you could say that they didn't want him anymore!" I told her.

"Well......at least he's coming home!" She said, patting my shoulder. She then got up and walked into the kitchen. The pain in my stomach still remained unbearable since I first felt it. Calum came down to sit beside me. He had the biggest grin on his face and I just knew that he was about to tell me something.

"Hey babe! I've got an idea for your brother coming home!" He said, his eyes getting wider with every significant word.

"Yea! Whats that?" I asked him.

"We should throw a surprise party!!" He said. He said it as if he had just thought of it in the midst of the second.

"Yea! Thats a great idea!" I told him. I wasn't lying or being sarcastic in any way. I actually really loved the idea of a cliché surprise party for my brothers return. I got up and went in to talk to my nonna for a while. Then after that Calum and I organised the party and invited some of Nialls close friends. Niall has a lot of friends!

"Here, you can phone Anna and ask if she wants to come!" Calum told me, handing the phone into my hand. I dont know why but I felt like Anna was becoming a stranger to both myself and my phone. I took a deep breath and dialled her number. Thats when I realised, I have no friends.
