"So that was the plan all along?!"

We had continued riding on horseback just as the Captain instructed and found a decent hiding place among the trees using our ODM Gear. We were currently stood on the branches of a tree, waiting for any sort of signal to return or retreat. Eren was ranting about the real motive Commander Erwin had for this operation and how this didn't make sense.

"I get keeping it from me but keeping you guys in the dark? You think you've earned a little more trust than that, right?"

Oluo and Petra were offended by what Eren stated but what he said wasn't entirely wrong either. Not like I'm in any right to speak or even think about trust but that's besides the point.

"Damn, you're annoying!"

"I hope you're not suggesting the captain kept the plan from us because he thinks that we're a liability!" I understood that what Eren had said put her on edge but after she swung her sword through the air in my brother's direction I couldn't help but unsheathe one of my own blades and grab Eren's shoulder with my free hand. I lightly pushed him a little behind me in case she had any other thoughts on swinging that blade around in frustration again. Eren gave me a puzzled look but didn't question my actions.

"I'm sorry but I am! There's just no other way it makes sense!"

Oluo growled then pointed his blade at Eren. I got into a defensive stance. Even though I've always struggled with handling a long blade I was ready enough to protect Eren from potentially getting injured by these people.

"Look, I hate to say it but he's got a point." Everyone looked at Eld with a bewildered expression, unbelieving of what he had just said. "The captain must've had a reason for not trusting us implicitly."

Oluo slowly lowered his blade back to his side while I did the same, listening intently to what Eld had to say about this.

"There's only one reason he couldn't trust his comrades. There's someone in the regiment who can either turn into a Titan or is working as a sort of spy for them."

Everyone either gasped in shock like I did or widened their eyes in bewilderment. Either way, everyone's composure slipped slightly for that split second and it made sense. However, if there is some sort of 'Titan Shifter spy' among us then who's to say there's only one?

"A spy? Are you really sure?" Gunther, who had perched himself on a higher branch to us, questioned Eld with slight doubt laced in his voice. This new information would definitely change the amount of trust we will have with the other Scouts, specifically the newer members.

"At the very least, the commander must believe so. I assume the only soldiers informed of this operation were the ones who survived five years ago."

Everyone fell into agreement with Eld's thought on the matter. Oluo made extra sure that Eren understood this new discovery.

Petra pondered her thoughts out loud. "Five years ago was when the wall first fell. Could they be using that fact to narrow down suspects on the assumption that's when when the spy got in?"
