Walking into the office, I felt like Vivian Ward after her shopping spree.
I had changed into a pencil skirt and a loose red blouse, pairing it with the flats I had brought with me. Jennies pushed me to get a pair of amazing heels, but they were safe in one of the bags. I couldn't risk getting abrasions on my first day!
"There you are!", Johnstone said and as we rounded the corner, everyone on the entire floor stood up and applauded us.
"The winners of the first Wave-challenge – Brown and Clarke!" He turned to one of the screens hanging on the wall. A photo of from Matthews pool filled the screen. The words 'Team to beat – Brown & Clarke' across the top.
In the picture we smiled against the camera, the water glistering behind us, our hair wet and...
Oh! No!
I stared at the photo and at my white blouse that had gone completely see-through. My lace bra wasn't exactly covering and my nipples, hard from the cold water, made a very obvious appearance through the wet fabric.
Someone wolf-whistled and my cheeks turned bright pink.
Johnstone tried to divert the situation. "Okay guys, back to work! And maybe next time you get to be our lucky winners!"
"Oh, I bet a lot of people want to get lucky..." Jennie whispered to me and nodded at the screen. "You literally make everything hot, don't you?"
She smirked and nudged me with her elbow. I couldn't help but laugh. I turned my back against the screen, and straightened as I turned. I was the one to beat – and it felt good!
"You really aren't playing fair."
I hadn't seen him move, but Finn's voice came from right next to me, his body facing against the screen.
I knit my eyebrows together. "We beat you fair and square in that challenge, and you know it!"
He let out a husky laugh, leaning in even closer to my ear, while pretending to check something on his phone. "Oh, I know you did. Congratulations on that."
I glanced at him, confused. "So what did you...?
"I still remember exactly how good they taste, how they felt when I teased them with my fingers. Seeing them on screen like that..." He slowly licked his lips. " ...well, I guess I have to congratulate you on your superb body too"
I gulped.
Perfect, he is just casually complementing my breast in the middle of the crowded room. Simply perfect...
I felt my cheeks burning red, both with embarrassment and anger. I was about to give him a piece of my mind when Finn's team mate pushed forward and shook my hand.
"I don't think we have been properly introduced – I'm Joacim Ouragan." His face strong and handsome with the most amazing blue eyes and his blonde hair short and styled.
"Kiara. Kiara Clarke." I bit my tongue and forced a smile.
"Clarke? I thought that was what Johnstone said but I wasn't sure. Are you in anyway related to the owners of Clarke corp?"
"Not that I know off. It's just a coincidence."
"Figured, but I had to ask! You could have been the secret niece, meaning you would probably have been given the answer to the challenge beforehand." He smiled at me, a completely gorgeous smile that caught me a bit off guard. "Since you are not, I guess I've to honestly congratulate you and honestly say that I'm impressed."
He looked me up and down, and then glanced at the photo behind me, his voice slightly lowering. "Very impressed indeed."
I narrowed my eyes at him, feeling the anger build up in me. "Only impressed by my tits, or could my brain perhaps interest you as well? After all it was my brain that beat you, not my body!" I cross my arms and stare him down.
An amused grin play in the corner of his mouth. "Summer said you were feisty!"
"Oh he did, did he?" I turned my glare to Finn who, stood still fiddling with his phone, pretended not to listen.
God, I could slap Finn across his perfect face if I wasn't sure that would lose me my job!
Without taking my eyes of Finn, I asked Joacim: "And did he say why he had gotten that impression?"
"Don't talk about me like I'm not here." Finn turned towards us, his brown eyes captivating.
"Didn't even realise you were here, Summer." My tone was sharp, and dripping with sarcasm. "But since you are, please enlighten me on how you have come to describe me as 'feisty' to your team mate. Cause as far as I recall, I don't know you. "
Memories of us tangled in bed flashed before my eyes, making me admit to myself that I might have pushed the truth a bit. But I didn't know him. I just know his body, and the electricity between us...
Finn straightened and glared down at me. "I guess you simply have that aura about you."
"Well, since I'm part of the 'Team to beat'..." I pointed at the screen to prove my point. "...then maybe you should care more about staying out of my way than analysing how my 'aura' feels."
I was fuming now. How dare he?!
Joacim smiled sweetly and made me turn to him. "I do apologise if I, or my obviously obnoxious team mate, have offended you. How about we grab a coffee and you can tell me how you solved the Wave-challenge?"
I glared between him and Finn.
"We'd love to!" I jumped at the sound of her voice as she slid up next to me. "I'm Jennie by the way."
"Joacim Ouragan."
"Oh, it that French?"
They started walking as I turned all my attention to Finn. "Stay. Away. From. Me!"
He looked at me, his eyes burning with emotions and his lips slightly parted. He placed his hands behind his back, before leaning in and whispering in my ear. "I don't think I can."
I looked at him, confused and aroused, as he walked away.
"Kiara, are you coming?", Jennie asked, her arm interlocked with Joacim's.
"Yes. Of course..." I swallowed and tried plastered a smile onto my face. That man!
