CHAPTER 6 : HIS WEAKNESS

     Ashton was busy with some files when his a call came in from his secretary. He picked it and only said three words, 'let him in.'
A gigantic man in his mid thirties came in and saluted before speaking.

'Sir! We've executed your order but we have a little problem.'

'Solve it, said Ashton in an indifferent tone.'

'Sir! This time, Third Miss is involved and that's why I came to inform you first.'

Ashton squinted his eyes before talking.
'Leave it, he said while dismissing him with a wave.'
The bodyguard saluted before leaving the office.

     He was in thoughts for a while, drumming his office table. His face portrayed no hint of emotions at all, making it hard to predict his thoughts. He later continued with the files as if nothing really happened.

     In the car, Lauren started another round of sleep. The medicines had strong effects on her, making her feel drowsy. She could only feeling someone helping her into a car and out of it, the next thing was a comfy atmosphere. She was sure that it was all a dream and wouldn't like to wake up from it. Her sleep today was so peaceful that she wore a smile, making her forget her problems.

Ashton! shouted a beautiful woman of about fifty years. 'I am not joking this time, I will set a blind date for you if you fail to introduce a girl to us before next week. You're 30 for God's sake and I'm not getting any younger. Even your younger sister has a fiance.'

'But Mom.... No buts, an old man interrupted. We've been too lenient with you and that's why you aren't taking us serious. I wonder if you haven't been hearing the rumours about you being a gay. You know I'm getting older and my health is deteriorating, I want to witness your children and probably meet my great grandchildren before I die.'

     Grandpa! 'Stop saying all these please,  a young lady said fearfully. Brother Ash will get married soon and you will meet my nephews and nieces. Brother Ash, I'll accompany you to your room. she said holding onto his arm.'

'Pinkie! You all have no rights to decide when I'll marry. Understood?'

Brother Ash, I said that because there's something I need to tell you. The Mark's patron came to see grandpa today and I was puzzled. He asked for an alliance between you and his daughter and grandpa told him to come back after a week. I heard grandpa telling Mom that he will strip you off your position in office if you refuse to get married.
I was still thinking of how to help you until Tom accidentally hit a lady while driving me yesterday. She looked so poor and innocent, so I was wondering if you could agree on a marriage contract with her for now. What do you think?

'Why do you think I'll agree to that?'

'Brother Ash, I know that you won't accept Grandpa's proposal and I'm sure he won't back down this time. I'm leaving, but I'll anticipate your response.'

     Ashton couldn't sleep at night because of sad memories. He still remembers the promise he made never to be with another woman if he lost 'her'. Now, the dramatic turn of events is making him confused, he really doesn't know what to do. Everyone has his weakness and he was not an exception.
