CHAPTER 4 : A POWERFUL FORCE

     An alarm clock woke Lauren so early in the morning. Just as she was about to go back to sleep, her phone beeped a message. She didn't bother to check it because she had become despondent. She wished her mother was still alive because she had been her comforter. Her second comforter, Ruby Carter also died two years ago in a ghastly car accident. Ever since she was little, it had been one mishap after another.

     She stood up lazily and walked to the bathroom, she looked at her image in the mirror and could swear she looked older than her age. She wore a simple gown after bath and began to prepare breakfast. She slowly made the sandwiches as she had lost appetite. Afterwards, she took her phone to play a game and decided to check the message first. Behold! It was a message from a small restaurant telling to resume work as a waitress on Monday, her joy knew no bounds.

     After the interview at Ashton's company, she had applied for about twelve different jobs within two months but couldn't get any. She started work the next week and everyone was really pleased with her, she was diligent and cheerful as if she's forgotten all her worries. However, she got dismissed the next week because the owner of the restaurant claimed he was getting bankrupt. He gave her salary for the week dismissed her. Her world came crashing down again.

     The first and only person she told the bad news was Glory.

'Why would he do that, Lo?'

'I have no idea at all. Believe me, I didn't make any flops at work.'

'Don't worry! Glory's gotcha. I'll help you ask for a home tutoring, I hope you don't mind.'

'Of course not, thank you.'

'It's my pleasure. I know a family that want a home tutor for their daughter and I know you'll earn a really handsome wage.'

     The next week, Lauren started her tutoring job. Erika Adams who's 8 years old has slow learning problem but Lauren was a good teacher. Within a week, her parents noticed improvements and were stunned. Unfortunately, they also dismissed her the next week. She begged Mrs Adams to tell her the offence she's committed so that she amend them but she told her she's made no mistakes at all, just that they received a warning to send her away by one of the most powerful forces in Maldera.
