Dearest Rudy,
As what I have hoped and wished, 1945 is indeed a very good year for us.
And this day, unexpectedly, Max came back. He was alive and kicking. I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw him.
Earlier this afternoon he came to visit the tailor shop and he met Alex. He asked Alex for me, and as I was called, I came and there I saw him. His hair was still feathery and curly, and one thing I saw that I really was glad to see, his smile was priceless yet so meaningful.
I hugged him tight, and he did the same. I almost cried because I thought that I'm not going to see him anymore, until that very moment. He never failed me about his promise, and then he said his famous words: "Was it from your cheek that I took the seed?"
And aside from that, if you're reading right now and you're wondering why Max isn't dead, and if I tell you that 1945 is a good year it truly is. Because, the war has finally come to an end and there's nothing to worry about anymore and Max, was a survivor of the Holocaust. I don't mind what the Führer is doing with his loss. And also, this year is a good year because well, you asked me out and I was really happy.
Anyways, Alex and Max were talking after the little moment I had with him. He was like my brother, from another family of course. You came in and you suddenly kissed me passionately which left your father and Max dumbstrucked at the sight of us. I was half embarassed, and half amused. We broke the kiss when your father cleared his throat, signalling us to stop at our moment.
And when you and Max met, there's no need for proper introducing, you seemed to know each other well, I reckon you already have the clue from what I was talking to you about. Max just simply said, "The boy with hair the color of lemons." And you, "The jew in the basement." Then the both of you smiled friendly to each other.
So after a while, you two have been hanging around and talking for who knows where and hiw long. But I don't mind, as long as it is Max and not some other people there who can attract your attention away from me. I continued working with Alex, and we've been talking to make our works quite easy.
"Rudy had been so aggressive and protective when it comes to you," he had said to me.
I didn't understand what he was talking, so I just made a confused face and let him continue.
He chuckled. "I saw him have a slight anger on his face when he was about to go in, and I assume it was for Max. When he went in, he kissed you and he opened his other eye to Max for a slight moment and he made the kiss more passionate."
I just chuckled at what he said. You know that I'll always be yours, ja?
"My son really does love you, Liesel." He grinned at me and I laughed, rolling my eyes.
So, that's what is why I came to write you today. And if anything happens, I'll write it to you.
I'll write soon.
With much love,
Your Liesel
