The day of the first Quidditch match finally came, and Ron was shaking with nerves.
"Hey, it'll be great- we've trained too hard to stop now." Blaise comforted, as he stretched.
"I feel sick." The ginger teen replied, closing his eyes as he sat down.
"Come on Weasley. You're the best keeper in the school. Pull yourself together." Draco moaned, as Maxine scowled.
"Hey- we chose you as deputy because we thought you could handle this type of thing. So handle it properly." She tutted.
Sighing, Draco sat next to Ron, wishing Ginny would turn up soon and handle her brother.
"Listen... Ron." He said, trying not to wince, "You remember when the whole school screamed: Weasley is my King?" He asked, as Ron opened his eyes and looked at the blonde. "Don't you want to show Beauxbatons who their king is too?"
As a small smirk spread across the Keepers face, Draco stood, as Ginny walked into the room.
"I just talked to the ref, and he sounds quite strict- so we can't be dirty or physical. Make them do the contact then we'll get the upper hand. The whole school is counting on us, and there may be a few scouts in the crowd. Keep your cool and play the best you ever played. We are a team, so let's show them what we got." Ginny smiled, encouragingly. "Ron? Are you okay?"
At the sound of scouts being at the match, Ron shrank back to the corner- all Draco's efforts put to waste.
"He was fine before you said scouts." Commented Rodger.
Sighing, Ginny walked up to her brother, telling the team to give them some privacy.
"Hey bro. How you feeling?" She asked, kneeling in front o of him.
"Horrible." He moaned in response.
"Come on- we've trained so hard- don't you want to show them what you got?" She smiled.
"Yeah- but there'll be scouts and-"
"I thought you wanted to be an Auroror?" Ginny questioned, making Ron stop and think.
"Oh yeah."
"Don't you want to feel the satisfaction of turning down an offer? I'm pretty sure Mione will be impressed." She smirked, wiggling her brows.
Standing up, Ron did a little shake.
"Tell a soul and I'll crush you." He warned, smiling, as he hugged his sister.
"Yay!" Beamed Ginny, as she grabbed Ron's hand and dashed to the team. "Okay guys- the game starts soon. I want everyone to drown out the audience and focus on the game. I'm not having any show-boating- we work together." Turning to the beaters, Maxine and Jackson, "If we have possession, I want you to keep us safe- if you can knock out one of their chasers- the better. When they have the ball- I want it to rain Beauxbatons bodies." She smirked, evilly, as the two beaters joined her- whilst the rest of the team looked scared and concerned.
"She's so intense." Whispered Rodger, as the rest of them nodded in agreement.
"Ron, always watch the game and look out for the players when a set play is coming. We'll be defending with you, but only can help you to an extent. I don't want one quaffle going through those hoops. Got it?" As he nodded his head, Ginny turned to her chasers.
"We need to keep as much possession as possible. Intercept as many passes as you can and keep the pressure and intensity high. You know the set plays- do them. When they have the quaffle, defend. When we do attack- and do it hard." Clapping their hands as adrenaline rushes through their veins, Ginny turned to the seeker, Draco.
"You have the best eye in the school." She said, as he smirked- considering he only had eyes for her, "so when you see the snitch- get it. Max and Jack will have your back so no bluggers will come your way. Don't worry about what's going on on the pitch- if you can get the snitch early on- do it." As he smiled and nodded, all Ginny wanted to do was kiss him.
"Okay guys, get in line." She spoke, as the team lined up outside the pitch doors.
The line had Ginny, the captain at the front, then deputy, Draco behind. Followed by the chasers, then beaters, then keeper.
Slipping a hand behind her back, Ginny grasped Draco's and gave it an encouraging squeeze. Returning it, Draco felt a warm feeling spread across his chest.
A minute later, the doors opened and the blinding lights of the quidditch pitch attacked their eyes.
As the intense shine calmed down, the teens took in their surroundings.
On wooden podiums, hung banners of both schools- Hogwarts and Beauxbatons. Rows upon rows of people stood, waving banners above their heads, chanting support to the teams.
"This is it." Ginny spoke, as she turned to her team. "Lets do this." Smirking, she turned and began running, till she jumped on her broom and sawed up to the sky.
"Captain and chaser Ginny Weasley leading the Hogwarts team on the pitch, followed by their seeker, Draco Malfoy. His fellow Slytherin, chaser Blaise Zabini, behind him. Following him, the Beaters Maxine O'Flaherty and Jackson Samuels. Flanking them all Ron Weasley, Griffindors Keeper. Now, you'd think the team wouldn't get along as-well as they do- given their competitive houses- but I watched their practice a few days ago- and Hooch seemed to have made the dream team." Commented Zacharias Smith from the commentator stand, as the team did a sweep of the pitch, causing the crowd to go mad.
A second later, Smith announced the arrival of Beauxbatons and named all the players- though having trouble saying some of the french names.
After the teams finished their circuit and got into position, the referee walked onto the pitch, as Ginny and one of the Beauxbatons chasers sat opposite each other, ready to start the game.
